Province of Groningen
In the north of the Netherlands lies the vast province of Groningen. The landscape of this province has inspired many painters who have visually consigned this area to canvas. There are many cycling and hiking routes in this beautiful area, so guests can easily enjoy the scenery.
An excursion from this province to the unique nature of the Wadden Sea area is definitely highly recommended. The small town of Pieterburen has a seal shelter where the sick animals are cared for and eventually put back into the sea. It's a wonderful place for children to visit, as they are allowed to closely approach these amiable animals.
The city of Groningen is an enjoyable and lively provincial capital. Everyone will find some of his liking in this bustling university city. The striking Groninger Museum opposite the central station is an absolute eye-catching example of modern architecture. The Universiteitsgebouw, the Town Hall and of course the characteristic tower Martinitoren (also called 'the Old Grey' in the local tongue) are remarkable city sights. The centre has a vast supply of very diverse shops.
