The Hague
The Hague is the capital of the province Zuid-Holland. It is the seat of the Dutch government and parliament. The Hague is also the Royal Family's residence and Paleis Noordeinde is Queen Beatrix's working palace. International lawsuits also regularly take place in the International Court of Justice at the Vredespaleis.
The court-capital has a stately atmosphere with numerous government buildings, such as the Binnenhof. The Hague also has much to offer in the way of culture. You can appreciate the works of Dutch masters such as Vermeer and Rembrandt at the Mauritshuis, watch a film at the Omniversum IMAX film theatre, or visit a miniature version of the Netherlands at Madurodam. From The Hague you can also easily hop on a tram to the beach at Scheveningen.
