Zoos
Looking at monkeys, new born baby elephants or trying to balance on one leg for as long as flamingos do: a trip to the zoo is a fun day out for all the family.
The first zoo in the Netherlands was founded in Amsterdam in 1838: Natura Artis Magistra. Nowadays there are dozens of zoos in the Netherlands. The Dierenpark Emmen even has 450 different animals! Enjoy an adventurous excursion and visit Rotterdam Zoo or the Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen.
In the woody surroundings of Arnhem lies Burgers Zoo Arnhem and in the south of the Netherlands is where you'll encounter the fantastic Gaiapark in Kerkrade. Let a little bird tell you why a flamingo is actually pink at the Vogelpark Avifauna or suddenly find yourself standing face to face with a monkey at the Apenheul!
You can see spectacular shows with dolphins, sea lions and walruses at the Dolfinarium in Harderwijk. Or would you rather go on safari? Even that's possible in the Netherlands at the Safaripark Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek.
