+ Location is excellent, only a couple of hundred of meters from central station Clean & warm rooms (remember to put heater on and keep window shut with a paper block). Considering this level of hotels, it could be horrible, but Crown was very comfortable

- No sink at toilet, cannot wash my hands there rigt away

+ Zeer vriendelijke eigenaren. Schone kamer en badkamer, in het centrum van Amsterdam. Ondanks de centrale ligging weinig last van geluid van buiten. Prima voor 1 overnachting, niet voor langere tijd.

- Het is behoorlijk gehorig doordat het een oud gebouw is. Daarnaast was de kamer erg koud doordat de verwarming niet goed werkte.

- i never got clean sheets in 3 days , or the carpet hoovered , cramped , basic , i also asked for a canal view , but i got the back of an alley instead !!!!

+ Location....short walk from central station , close to Sam square and perfect location in RLD can smoke weed or hash in bar at lobby which also has a big screen and pool table.

- No elevator and steps are extremely steep, rooms are nothing more than beds with a sink in them, if all you are looking for is a place to crash for the night or a cheap stay in the RLD with a bar and smoke friendly lobby then this is the place for you

+ Für einen Städtetrip ist dieses Hotel optimal, da wirklich dicht am Bahnhof gelegen und um das historische Amsterdam zu entdecken. Das Personal sehr nett ! Es ist ein einfaches, sauberes,kleines Hotel.Ich brauch keinen Luxus und werde beim nächsten Amsterdam- Besuch wieder dort wohnen.

+ The reception is open 24/7, and the people in charge of it are nice. Our room was facing a canal, and it was very quiet.

- Beware of the stairs, they look like ladders !!

+ Das Hotel liegt im lebhaften Zentrum von Amsterdam und gleichzeitig sehr nah am Bahnhof. Für Amsterdamer Verhältnisse ist die Übernachtung günstiger, allerdings

- ist das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht korrekt, wenn es mit anderen Lagen und Städten verglichen wird. Denn an Komfort lässt es sehr zu wünschen übrig- (z.B. Dusche und Toilette auf dem Flur - gemeinschaftlich genutzt). Sehr, sehr steile Treppen (was natürlich den Grund in der Amsterdamer historischen Architektur liegt).

+ Einziger Pluspunkt ist die absolut gute Lage im Herzen von Amsterdam

- Der Komfort dieses Hauses ist eher nicht erwähnenswert. Für die Lage ist der Preis aber noch annehmbar, wenn man keine Ansprüche stellen will und den Tag in der Stadt verbringt. An heißen Sommertagen ist das Zimmer unterm´ Dach nichts für seichte Gemüter, die mit Schlafstörungen zu kämpfen hatten (stelle ich mir vor). Positiv zu erwähnen ist, dass man in der Nacht noch lange auf der Treppe am Eingang sitzen kann, freundliche Nachtservice-Leute dafür sorgen, dass man noch das eine oder andere Bier mit Blick auf die Gracht trinken kann, das entschädigt dann doch für so manches...

+ Very well situated, close from the central station and in the heart of RLD. Very good starting point for a visit to the city, friendly staff knowing the district and the city, and able to give good advice. Bar open late at night, no smoking in the rooms.

- Extremely basic accomodation (which is OK if you don't expect more). For some reason, no water in the rooms in the morning, no safe (although the reservation said "private safe") Largely overpriced.

+ helaas geen pluspunten. mogelijk is hotel veranderd van eigenaar, buitenlandse mensen bestieren het hotel.

- hotel was in slechte staat en je werd er met de nek aangekeken. beslist geen aanrader. als de deur gesloten is kom je er amper meer binnen, ondanks dat je er een kamer hebt. steile trappen en krakende vloeren, lawaaierige klanten op de gang. ik kom hier absoluutt niet weer. foto's op de internetsite kloppen voor geej meter. mijn waardering voor dit hotel?.....een 2, slecht.

+ lekker op loopafstand van CS. Biertje drinken in de kroeg en de mogelijkheid om je blouse te strijken erg prettig.

- Nauwelijks contact met personeel, schoonmaker des ochtens sprak nauwelijks nederlands. KAmer 4 is te warm van radiator is stuk, lekt en is niet dicht te draaien, kamer stik warm

+ I was surprised how basic it was but service was quite friendly ! It was basically a room above a pub with a friendly bar and bar man and a friendly cat !

- The shared WC had no top on the lavatory and the flushing mechanism had a piece of rope / string instead of a metal flushing plunger ! It was alright for me as a traveller on his own but I think you should make it clear how basic [ though it is an interesting experience just as a place to sleep and is very central !] a " hotel " it is !

+ i had the whole floor to myself once the party-goers left at the end of the weekend. it was comfortable and the location was excellent.

- i chose this hotel because i was told they had wi-fi, i was not able to access the internet from the hotel. i also chose the hotel because they were "smoker-friendly," the signs on the doors of the rooms say hash and grass are allowed in the bar but when i tried to smoke in the bar they told me it wasn't allowed anywhere in the hotel. the first night i stayed, a saturday, i could hear multiple people in multiple rooms being loud, slamming doors, throwing up in the bathrooms, running up and down the stairs... the walls are so thin you can hear all conversation in all surrounding rooms. this went on literally all night until check-out the next morning.

+ While it is close to the red light district, it is sufficiently far away to be quiet. It provides excellent value for money if you just want a good bed and a shower (and if you are not afraid of somewhat narrow stairs).

- This is an hotel just to sleep. If you want to make a romantic trip with your girl friend (and if yu are not poor), do not go here.

+ It is near the station.

- It is completely misleading on the website. They show a lovely room, the reality is much different - the rooms are shockingly nasty. A real Flophouse. This is the kind of place you come to sleep after partaking in some of Amsterdam's seedier attraction, not for people who want to feel safe and clean.

+ I had a great stay in the crown hotel, cant remember when i last time met so friendly a staff. I had a small but lovely room on the top floor, and eve though the hotel is located in the heart of amsterdam i couldn't hear any noise from the outside! I'm defiantly staying there again next time i come to amsterdam!

+ De ligging van het hotel is ten opzichte van het centrum en station fantastisch. De bedden lagen heerlijk.

- Bij aankomst werd er op onplezierige wijze moeilijk gedaan over de betaling, er werd langdurig gebeld en nadat bleek dat alles in orde was werden er geen excuses aangeboden. De prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is niet in balans, de kamerprijs is beslist te hoog voor dat wat er geboden wordt.

+ It was exactly what we wanted, cheap and cheerful but clean and accessable to where we wanted to be. Staff were friendly and accomodating. I would recommend it to any group of friends going over for a weekend.

- There are no minus points - we were group of lads who wanted somewhere clean to crash that did not cost a lot and thats what we got

- Stairs!!! He said two flights; it was three! There was to be internet access in the bar area; there was none and neither of the two gentlemen that I talked with had a clue. Very high price for size, stairs, and quality.
