Leiden also has the longest shopping street in the Netherlands: the Haarlemmerstraat. The nearby bulb fields and the popular beach resorts of Katwijk and Noordwijk are also great for day out during a stay at Hotel Tulip Inn Leiden Centre.

  • We tried the white beans in tomato sauce for breakfast and the beans were a little hard but otherwise everything was first class.

Convenience for visiting Keukenhof Garden
  • + The hotel is very close to the train station and the buses. I used both frequently to visit Keukenhof Garden and other points in the Netherlands. There are displays in the hotel with the trains scheduled at the station. It's an easy walk into Leiden. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. I ate in the restaurant one night and had an excellent meal with good service.

Decent hotel, worth the price.
  • + Free Wifi. Friendly, efficient staff. Good kitchen. Beds OK. Relatively new hotel, or well kept. Convenient location. Nice lounge.
  • No safe locker in room. Some noise from main road and airco(?) outside.
  • * my tip Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper (noise from the outside, not from within the hotel).

Staying on a building site with very unfriendly staff
  • We were unable to stay in the hotel during the afternoons because of the excessive building noise. The ongoing work is noisy (drilling and hammering) with accompanying smells and dirt. Staff instead of being understanding were unfriendly and short.

Excellent hotel near city centre
  • + Golden Tulip hotel is situated in the same buidling as Tulip Inn Hotel in Leiden which we visited from 4 â 6 Februar 2011. They both have the same reception, the same staff, the same lounge and the same restaurant. Only the rooms are different: Golden Tulip has new rooms of 4**** quality whereas Tulip Inn is a 3*** hotel. We booked a room in Tulip Inn but because of a Valentineâ™s offer we were up-graded to one of the new rooms in Golden Tulip. The hotels are within walking distance of the city centre (less than 10 minutes on foot) and about 100 meters from the train station. There is a large entrance hall running out into the lounge with sitting corners and reading table. It gives a somewhat oldfashioned but still rather comfortable impression. Golden Tulip has its onwn parking at 9 euro per 24 hours. Check inn and check out went very smoothly and staff in all parts of the building is extremely kind and helpful. We had a large double room (128) with a large double bed and two excellent mattresses. Even the four pillows were of very good quality, which is an exception compared to most other hotels. There is a large flatscreen TV, a mini-bar, a writng table and a large linen cupboard with save. The air-conditioner works very quietly. The room is extremely good soundproofed. There are coffee/tea facilities which are supplied everyday. The bathroom is rather roomy too with the best shower we ever had. Although not quite necessary, towels were changed every day and soap, shampoo, conditioner etc. had been replenished. Breakfast is really abundant and from a high quality: at least five kinds of cereals, yoghourt, bread, meat and cheese products, fruit, drinks, etc. Although coming from a coffee machine coffee tastes rather old. Breakfast was included in the price, but if you have to pay for it it is rather pricey (16 euro p.p.). We once had dinner there which was really excellent. The only negative point is the price of using the internet in the corridor on the ground floor: 0,35 euro a minute is a crazy price for a service a growing amount of hotels offer for free! Still, the hotel is very recommendable. Leiden is a marvelous city.

Too expensive for what you get.
  • Too bad they don't have a reasonably priced breakfast. 16.50 euro is too much for breakfast when it should be free. Also, paying 10 euro for an hour of wireless internet is a rip when it should be free. Very expensive.

Peaceful & friendly in Leiden
  • + --very close to Leiden Central which is only 15 minutes from Schipol --in centre of Leiden with lovelly walks --no charge for arriving at dawn cf. US who say come back after 2pm! --friendly & helpful staff
  • My next stop was Genoa (Italy) and before I realised there was a Golden Tulip hotel 200 metres from the bare bones place in which I stayed, I had already paid for the 3 nights. You need to better advertise locations away from megacities.

Serviceable and functional.
  • + Nice big room. Good central location. Helpful staff. No noise from outside or in to disturb us.
  • Too cold when we returned to our room during the day, and much too hot during the night! I had to request some tomato sauce at breakfast and when it arrived it was horrible!
