For those who choose to go away for a relaxing weekend in Lemmer, Herberg de Wildeman is certainly a good place to stay. The inn dates from 1773 and is uniquely located right in the picturesque old centre of the Frisian village and near the charming terraces and water. The rooms in this inn were fully renovated by an architect in 2008. Nowadays the inn offers luxurious and trendy furnished holiday apartments. Many of the original elements such as the old beams have been preserved.
The holiday apartments have a fully equipped kitchen with luxury appliances including a dishwasher and Senseo coffee machine and a dining table with chairs. The apartments have a separate bedroom with high quality beds and a good bathroom with shower, Jacuzzi and a toilet. There is a comfortable sitting area with television and DVD player.
Food and Drinks
Every morning between 09:00 and 11:00 h. you can have breakfast in the Grand Café, in winter breakfast is served an hour later. The Grand Café has an authentic ceiling with wooden beams and the old floor is also still there. For a delicious lunch you can visit the Grand Café, until about 17:00 h. you can choose from various dishes on the menu. There are soups, several sandwiches, home made salads and hot dishes.
For a nice dinner, the kitchen is open from 17:00 to 21:00 h. You can choose to eat in the homely Grand Café, or in the elegant dining area on the upper floor of the restaurant. The wide, dark red carpeted stairs lead to a pleasant room with dark wooden tables that overlook the harbour. The menu offers several great meat, seafood and delicious vegetarian dishes and good, old fashioned stews.

Surroundings
Herberg De Wildeman is situated in the old centre of the former fishing village of Lemmer, which today is a popular place for water sports enthusiasts. Nice to see are the old Lemster Sluis and the Woudagemaal. The latter dates from 1920, it is the oldest working steam pumping station in the world. It is a World Heritage site. Cycling, walking, sailing, and boating, Friesland offers many opportunities. From Lemmer you can sail to the Tjeukemeer and Slotermeer lakes. To find out more about the history of the fishing village you can visit the Oudheidkamer Lemster Fiifgea. Lemmer also has a Dive Museum and Indian Motor Museum. Interesting museums in the area are the Jopie Huisman Museum in Workum, and the Skating Museum in Hindeloopen.
