Amrâth Hotel DuCasque Maastricht

Four stars hotel

Helmstraat 14, Maastricht Map 0.1 km (City centre)

Score of 56 reviews: 7.2

Hotel DuCasque welcomes you in the city centre of Maastricht with its narrow cobblestone streets and impressive façades. Twenty centuries of history are almost touchably present in a city which has known prosperity as well as a warlike past.

The era of prosperity finds expression in the interior of the hotel. The concept of this design finds its origin in the popular architectural current of the Roaring Twenties combined with a simple Art Deco style. Thin shapes and curved surfaces in clear tints give an original appearance to the various halls which lend themselves well for conferences, presentations and receptions.

Amrâth Hotel DuCasque offers 41 rooms equipped with various facilities, including bathroom, telephone, radio and high-speed internet (free of charge). The hotel lives up to the motto of the Amrâth hotel chain to which says 'Amrâth makes life more fun'. Quality, comfort and hospitality come first.

Surroundings

Maastricht is located at the Maas river and knows a history of twenty centuries. In the centre the churches, treasure chambres and mansions bear testimony to the times of abundance. The remnants of city walls and the underground fortifications tell a different side of the story; of a city with a tumultuous past, on the crossroads of spheres of influence. Apart from an interesting and a fascinating city centre, Maastricht is located in an area which is definitely worth a visit. Outside the city the hills of the province of Limburg unfold, with its walking and cycling possibilities. You can visit the marl caves and explore the Maasvalley on a tour boat. Within a stone's throw lies the border of the Netherlands. With Maastricht as your base, you can visit Liege and Aachen, two old cities sparkling with culture.

Food and Drinks

Every morning a breakfast buffet is available from 07:00 to 10:00 h. during weekdays and from 08:00 to 10:30 h. during holidays and weekends. The hotel does not have a restaurant. However, with the variety of terraces, bistro's, grand cafés and predominantly French oriented restaurants, you will find an abundance of culinary possibilities. You will have an unmatched choice to explore the Burgundian kitchen of the South.

Wij hebben 3 geweldige dagen in Maastricht gehad.
  • + Vriendelijk personeel. Ontbijt goed.
  • * my tip Hotel ligt erg centraal. In het hotel, maar ook in de omgeving kun je goed eten en drinken. Winkels en bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand.

  • + Very convenient. Friendly and helpful staff.
  • Should have a fan, it's very hot in the room when u cannot open your window or patio door to sleep because next door can also walk over.

Good hotel in central Maastricht
  • + Central; comfortable; very helpful and courteous reception at all times; reception staff all spoke very good English. We had a late check in and we didn't have to call them internationally - we just wrote them an email and it was ok.
  • One of 2 rooms booked had a terrible smell of drainage even though it was clean, which was changed immediately on arrival when we complained. We were lucky they had an empty room. If they hadn't we would have changed hotel completely cos smell was bad. Hopefully they took note and fixed it. Tea and coffee is available free but in reception not in room - for a 4star hotel this is a minus point. Sorry.

Deluxe room Amrâth Hotel DuCasque Maastricht
  • + location is great. you step out of the door and you're in the middle of town with all the liveliness.
  • everything is fairly old fashioned. needs some renovation. mattresses were too soft and the bed isn't 1 big bed (not nice if you're there as a couple). tv remote wasn't working (usually don't watch tv in a hotel, but after walking the whole day we wanted to chill out.needed to pick 1 channel unless you got up the whole time to see what else was on). a lot of noise from the church bells can be heard in the room (we had the deluxe room with the balcony overlooking vrijthof) in the morning. get woken up at 7:30am or something.

Not what I'd call 4 star
  • + Good location and good staff. The room we were put in for the last night was certainly an improvement.
  • I cannot imagine how this hotel had 4 stars. Very poor quality for a 4 star hotel. The room for the first 3 nights permanently smelled of sewerage and drains.

Perfect for a short stay in Maastricht
  • + Efficient and friendly welcome and service both at Reception and at Breakfast. Good sized and comfortable bedroom, modern bathroom. Excellent view across Vrijthof from our bedroom and our table at breakfast. Ideal for visiting TEFAF and enjoying Old Maastricht as well as the newer shopping centres and nearby restaurants. My fifth stay at Du Casque and will return next year. The weather was fantastic.
  • Would prefer a double bed rather than the two close together single beds.

Old style, spacious hotel with all you need for a short city break.
  • + Excellent location for the centre of Maastricht. Spacious room. Microwave available for guests to use. Hotel and room very comfortable and nice atmosphere in hotel.
  • No kettle in room, tea / coffee facilities beside lobby so you have to go downstairs to get a cup of tea or coffee. Room was at front of hotel so road outside was sometimes noisey at night time.

In general: no complaints / maintenance is needed.
  • Painting of the outside windows requires attention - in my room (no. 460) the wall was damaged while trying to hide such by means of a curtain - should be repaired - not up to standard.

In need of repair
  • + Good location. The hotel was clean. We loved the elevator. The car parking was good but cost €20 but then it is in the city centre. Very helpful, nice staff.
  • We had to change our booking but on leaving it cost €10 more than I was told on the phone but we were too tired to argue the extra. The hotel was clean but falling apart. It could do with a DIY person to fix broken ceiling tiles, do some painting etc. It was clear that no money has been reinvested recently in the hotel to keep up appearances. A certain Olde World Charm gone slightly too far.

At the heart of shopping and dining
  • + Front desk service is excellent and 24-hour. Private parking (at a charge) is excellent. It is very private, safe, and ultra clean.
  • There is bar next door. In the middle of the World Cup series, this bar stayed noisy until 4:30 am. If you need quiet, pick a room in the back, not one facing the street. This was my 6th time staying at this hotel and noise was never a problem before.

  • + staff were very nice, especially the woman running the ontbijt
