Amrâth Grand Hotel de l'Empereur, located in the centre of Maastricht across the street from the Central Station, is established in a historic Jugendstil building dating back to 1902. The history of the building, the friendliness of the staff and the style of the interior give the hotel its cosy atmosphere. In this hotel, tradition is combined with modern comfort and nostalgic friendliness.

The hotel has 149 rooms and suites, divided into the categories comfort, deluxe, comfort plus rooms and major suites. Fred Douglas Location is the keyword: 17 October 2011; 7.8; + Nice location, as the hotel is across the central station and 10 mins walking to the nice terraces and shopping area.; - Not so good location as the public transport busses make a lot of noise early in the morning. The room was relatively warm so opening a window meant more noise.

Don't stay at Amrath Hotel: 19 September 2011; 4.0; + -friendly personell -enough towells -fresh and tasty croissants -parking garage; - - room service needs improvement: beds didn't look like made. waste bin was not emptied - the swimming pool area is a laugh (I never would advertise a pool like this). the place is worn out, needs reparing: the male fitting room does not have hangers for bathrobe, the place looks dirty, dark and worn out. - Carpet on 3dr floor loose - you could slip and fall on the floor - Restaurant does not serve mussels in the restaurant - it would smell and therefore we weere offered a place in the Bistro at the bar; incredible, since we are in the mussels season now and you can have them at each restaurant in Maastricht.

Would not want to eat only bread and butter everyday!! Airconditioning is pathetic. Might as well say that the rooms come without the airconditioning! Room Hygiene- the rooms are not cleaned properly and one has to always remind them to clean properly.

We ordered birthday flowers and cake for this weekend's celebration and the staff provided everything perfectly to include upgrading to a better and more appropriate room for the event. Thank you to all the staff.; - Although the hotel had an indoor swimming pool, it was very low energy and a boring environment. Concerned that if someone were to slip or fall or have any type of accident while alone in this area, no one would know anything happened until someone else were to use the pool area. How can this be prevented in case something were to happen? Recommend to look at safety in this area...possibly a security camera?

Angela Great location for train travellers: 3 October 2010; 8.4; + Proximity to the station - was travelling by train. The centre of the town was within walking distance. Restaurants close by. Swimming pool in the basement. Large room and bathroom.; - Did not feel welcomed on arrival as reception ignored me and then proceeded to serve others who arrived after me. When I pointed this out she didn't stop serving the others and take care of me. My subsequent experiences at reception were all positive, but first impressions are lasting!

Friendly staffs, good restaurant, comfortable room. It is idea for the business and other traveller.; - Internet connection can be imporved and the charges to use the PC in the lobby is high which not suitable for using short time. Kettle in my room can not reach the plug while it is on the table.

Room was small but very comfortable and quiet. There is a nice restaurant and bar area. Within walking distance of Maastricht Square.

William Baumbach Great hotel but slow and expensive internet: 3 November 2008; 10; + For off-season, this hotel is an excellent value. The new wing was impressive and high quality.; - The internet access was expensive: 17 euro per day, with no provision for shorter use times. Also, once connected, it was very slow: gotomypc was interrupted about once per minute due to the hotel's slow connection speed.

NM Fine for the money paid: 2 November 2008; 6.0; + HOtel was fairly standard type of 4* hotel. We were "upgraded" to a deluxe room from our standard booking.; - No great problems. There was a lot of dust in the room and a smell which indicated smokng in the room at some point. Nothing that sufficiently motivated us to make any complaints though.

Linda Great location if traveling by train: 27 October 2008; 9.6; + The location is a big plus, can be seen from the train station. Our room was good size and very clean. Staff was pleasant but not overly friendly. Would definitely stay here again.; - Breakfast not included in the rate, very expensive (17.50 each) could not find any place open at 7am so had to eat at hotel.

It is directly across from the train station and a short walk to the town square and shopping.; - The staff was very snobbish. I got the feeling they resented the presence of a family amid the sea of business suits. I would not stay there again with my children despite the fact that they have an indoor pool, which is the reason I chose them in the first place. I am not sure I would stay there again even without my children.
