Surroundings

Maastricht is one of the oldest cities of the Netherlands, founded 2050 years ago by the Romans. Consequently, history can be found on every street corner in this city. Within walking distance from Hotel d'Orangerie you can find the Vrijthof and market square and the basilica of the Onze Lieve Vrouwe square, where you can have dinner or drinks. The hilly area surrounding Maastricht is very suitable for hiking or biking.

Food and Drinks

Lovely setting but beware.....

  • – Entered the toilet area to find it unflushed. The entire bathroom smelled very strongly from the water pipes--highly unpleasant the entire stay. Shower gave NO hot or warm water! If you are a reader, forget it, as there is not lamp even near the head of the bed! I was in Rm 25 and was kept awake by rumbling noises from above and other guests' rooms doors. On the whole an unpleasant stay and not to be recommended at all.

  • – I found the single room rather small. In Australia we singles always get double rooms. It was rather hot for the doona but when I asked for a sheet I was given one. The front door and awning could do with a cleanup. The bathroom was struggling to be user friendly but understand the problmes with an old building.
