“ No plus points . first room given was to much of a hassle to get to - dirty entrance - rubbish left lying during the time of our stay even though it was brought to the attention of reception. In the first room unable to open any windows to let in fresh air a lot of problems with this room which was brought to the attention of hotel staff- very reluctant to give discount so instead got upgrade. Upgrade was better except for the blood stained bedding.A discount was given on leaving. ” Charles Coutts July 23, 2014

Surroundings

Maastricht is one of the oldest cities of the Netherlands, founded 2050 years ago by the Romans. Consequently, history can be found on every street corner in this city. Within walking distance from Hotel d'Orangerie you can find the Vrijthof and market square and the basilica of the Onze Lieve Vrouwe square, where you can have dinner or drinks. The hilly area surrounding Maastricht is very suitable for hiking or biking.

Food and Drinks

The lounge/brasserie and its informal setting provides a lovely spot for enjoying a refreshing drink, a nice cup of coffee with traditional Dutch apple pie or another light bite. A breakfast buffet is also served here every morning. Breakfast is available on weekdays from 07:00 until 10:00, and at weekends from 07:30 until 10:30. The building's history and the its romantic ambience will offer you a truly exuberant experience. And if Dutch weather permits, you can enjoy an after dinner drink in the hotel's courtyard.

  • Disappointed not to be able to talk to a manager as later that same day the managers had a meeting and decided that our complaint was baseless and that they had charged my card with car parking charges which had been given purely because of the hassle on the first room and the discovery of the dirty linen. - their house keeping department refusing to accept any responsibility and basically accusing ourselves. Reception was asked to send someone immediately to the room to be shown but no one w

Wonderful Hotel in Maastricht
  • + We loved the hotel and location --- walking distance to everything. Hotel is very charming and has a lot of character. Hotel staff were very friendly and nice and willing to help with whatever we needed. We will definitely stay there again when we go back to Maastricht. Breakfast in the morning is served in the most wonderful room and is excellent. Don t miss it
  • We were given room 15 and it was pretty small and cramped for 2 people, one of whom is 6 4 tall It did have a nice bathroom with a huge tub and shower. We did like that we were in the back of the hotel and were able to keep the window open and wake to the birds. The bed was a bit firm for us but might be OK for others. Avoid this room and your stay should be excellent all the way around.
  • * my tip The Market Square is just a short walk from the hotel and is lined with several restaurants. We tried 3 of them and found them all to be good. It was so pleasant to sit outside on the square and enjoy a leisurely dinner. Don t miss the Maastricht sour beef --- wonderful sauce. Walking along the river from the hotel was also very nice --- lots of cafe s there too that were good for lunch.

Good location, okay hotel
  • + The hotel is located well, right next to the Markt (Market) and the lively and beautiful center of Maastricht. The staff is nice and the beds are comfortable.
  • The standard double rooms are pretty small and the decor could do with some updating. The room had a very strong smell of cleaning products, which gave us a bit of a head ache. And when we asked the receptionist about Japanese restaurants, he said that there weren't any. However, we later found five good ones online and close-by.

Good location, lovely building
  • + Great location, beautiful building, friendly staff, comfortable beds.
  • We moved rooms and were charged extra when the first room's sloping ceiling made it nearly impossible to walk around in.

Hospitality training
  • + Very Clean, comfortable, modern room. good location, good breakfast with friendly service
  • staff require hospitality training!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! too many surprises; a lot of "nickel and diming". example: we were invited for tea or coffee in their lounge and then found a charge for this on the final bill! Same for bottle of water by the coffee machine in the room. Same for the use of internet, parking was higher than stated. Parking arrangements are one block away and awkward. staff member on checkout could not explain it. A 9e cheaper day rate quoted if booked trough hotel d

Lovely setting but beware.....
  • + The interior decoration of the public areas is lovely and promising for a good stay.But...
  • Entered the toilet area to find it unflushed. The entire bathroom smelled very strongly from the water pipes--highly unpleasant the entire stay. Shower gave NO hot or warm water! If you are a reader, forget it, as there is not lamp even near the head of the bed! I was in Rm 25 and was kept awake by rumbling noises from above and other guests' rooms doors. On the whole an unpleasant stay and not to be recommended at all.

  • + Generally a lot going for it - friendly staff on arrival, great location, attracive rooms and common areas.
  • Sound insulation from room above did not aid normal sleep. Breakfast - went down at 09.30am - little food available - when we left breakfast room they were filling up all food containers - too late for those of us who happened to choose 09.30am to 09.45am for our breakfast.

  • + Inrichting van de kamers in het bijzonder. Ontbijt (met champagne!!!) uitstekend. Ligging van het hotel van het stadscentrum. Personeel.
  • Verlichting in de bad kamer Koelkast heel slecht geventileerd - hij koelt alleen als de kast deuren open zijn. Met de deuren dicht werkt het niet.

  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Breakfast, the dining room and outdoor setting were lovely. Bed comfortable. Loved the age and decor.
  • I found the single room rather small. In Australia we singles always get double rooms. It was rather hot for the doona but when I asked for a sheet I was given one. The front door and awning could do with a cleanup. The bathroom was struggling to be user friendly but understand the problmes with an old building.

  • Noise! Drunken guests on my floor were rudely making noise at 3-4 AM on the first night. Also, a lift would be a big plus.
