Near the historically interesting centre of Menen lies the Best Western Ambassador Hotel. Within walking distance lies the station and the square Grote Markt. In 1574, the first stone of the tower of the belfry of Menen was laid, based on plans of the Ghent master mason and architect Bartholomeus Dhaese. The belfry is 33 meter high and has a fine carillon. The upstairs view of the city and the region is panoramic. In 1999, the belfry of Menen was added on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
