Description

Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel is located in a rural area, between Rotterdam and Gouda. Hotel Van der Valk Nieuwerkerk can be found on the A20 motorway, exit 17. You can reach Rotterdam within 15 minutes by car. Rotterdam is perfect for a city trip, with its shops, large harbour, cosy outdoor terraces, abundance of museums, the Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo and its vibrant nightlife. The centre of Gouda boasts historic buildings, such as the city hall and the weighing-house. The traditional cheese market attracts large crowds during the summertime.

For business travellers the proximity of several business areas is very convenient: Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel (Hooge Veenen), Capelle aan den IJssel (Schollevaar and Rivium), Rotterdam (Alexanderpolder, Oost and Nesselande) Waddinxveen (Coenecoop) and Gouda (Goudse Poort). Rotterdam Airport is only a 15-minute drive away.

Food and Drinks

Start your day with a breakfast buffet at the hotel available from 07:00 - 10:00.
The menu in the à la carte restaurant changes every three months and offers seasonal dishes. Here you can enjoy both lunch or a nice dinner. The restaurant and the outdoor terrace have a lovely view onto the green park at the back of the hotel.
There is also a bar at the hotel, which is open daily from 17:00 - 01:00. Snacks are served here until 22:30.

Internet

Wireless Internet is available throughout the entire hotel. The first 2 hours of Internet are free. Should you wish to use the Internet longer or require broadband, you can acquire Internet cards at reception at an additional charge. The hotel lobby has a computer, which you can use for free.

Surroundings

Dubbed the 'Green Heart', this beautiful rural area in the Netherlands is one you can explore during your stay at Hotel Van der Valk Rotterdam-Nieuwerkerk. The nearby recreational area Rottemeren is perfect for walking and water sports. In the region you can visit the 'silver town' of Schoonhoven and the village of Kinderdijk, which is famous for it's 19 windmills furnishing the dyke.

Important information

Please note: In 2011 we have renovated the restaurant, the halls and the lobby. In January 2012 we will partially renovate the car park, lay a new outdoor terrace and renovate the garden. In April we will commence with the extension of our new hotel wing. At the end of 2012 the hotel will have been completely transformed.

You can of course dine and stay at the Hotel Nieuwerkerk during the renovation, but the restaurant will offer a smaller menu. You may encounter some inconvenience during this renovation and we hope you can forgive this. Naturally, you can still expect the same high level of service from us.

Anonymous Will be a nice Hotel once the Renovation work is finished.: 5 February 2012; 8.6; + The renovation done so far is very pleasant and tasteful.; - The lighting in the bathroom was very dim. When getting near to the mirror to see properly, the light is behind one's head making it difficult to see in the mirror. I recommend installing make-up mirrors.

The hotel is located in a very safe area and close to public transportation.; - The cups in the room weren't cleaned very often. Also beware of housekeeping. They don't knock before entering your room so make sure you put a "do not disturb" sign on the door unless you like to get walked in on in the morning.

Easy to get to the nearest station. The only thing was the taxi service, we paid 4 different prices to go to the ame place at virtually the same time of day. Not the hotels fault, but something to watch.; - No ordinary black tea in the hotel, just herbal and green teas. If it were just green tea without peppermint this would have been alright. Bathroom not very nice, but I did read that they were being refurbished which is good.

Too many hangers on from conferences made it less freindly.

The food in the restaurant was generally good, some meals were excellent.; - The weather was warm several days and the room seemed unairconditioned. I couldn't stay in it during the day. As an American, I use more ice with my drinks than in The Netherlands and I could not get any. For one meal I got the "sandwich" in the bar. That was a mistake. For breakfast, the European sausage and somewhat cooked bacon weren't tasty to me. The TV channels seemed limited compared to the A4 Van Der Valk. Please get the KPN to provide 56 MBPS instead of 11 MPBS.

Personeel zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam.; - Verbouwing zorgde voor veel overlast, op zaterdagochtend werd er om half 7 's ochtends al getimmerd en verbouwd. Geluidsoverlast alom en daardoor was het verblijf verre van comfortabel. Zullen niet snel weer boeken bij dit hotel.

Vriendelijke personeel en behulpzaam.; - Er werd volop verbouwd dus de hal en gangen waren een choas. Er werd wel gelijk aangeboden om een ander Valk hotel in R'dam te zoeken, top! De douche is wat klein, liever een aparte douche ipv douchen in het bad (ook glad). Wastafeltje was wat klein, je kunt je spullen niet kwijt. Matras lag niet lekker, geen boxspring.

Marinus A van de Meeberg Door verbouwing weinig uitstraling en ongezellig, geen 4 sterren: 6 October 2011; 5.4; + Het personeel was uiterst behulpzaam en gaf een keurige indruk. De kamer die wij hadden was een ruime kamer en een keurige badkamer. Tijdens de verbouwing was er op de kamer en tijdelijke ontbijtruimte weinig overlast.; - Het was jammer dat men bij het hotel Van der Valk in Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel ons niet even had laten weten dat men aan het verbouwen was. De entree was een grote bouwplaats met betonnen vloeren en openliggende plafonds en muren, beslist 4 sterren onwaardig!! Wij dachten nog even in de lounge gezellig iets te drinken, maar wegens de verbouwing was dat niet te doen. Bovendien moesten wij goed oppassen waar wij liepen omdat men daar aan het werk was om niet ergens tegenaan te lopen of iets op je hoofd te krijgen, alhoewel de werkmensen wel behulpzaam waren. Ook het entree bord "Bouwplaats met betreden eigen risico, helm, schoenen met stalen neuzen en veiligheidsbril" stond er , dus kan dit ARBO technisch wel, gasten door de bouw laten lopen? Het zou beter zijn geweest als het hotel tijdens dit deel van de verbouwing gewoon gesloten zou zijn gebleven. In ieder geval was het voor ons beiden niet zo'n groot probleem aangezien wij maar één overnachting hadden geboekt. Als wij meerdere overnachtingen geboekt zouden hebben, dan waren wij niet langer gebleven dan die ene nacht.
