The Fontana Bad Nieuweschans spa was established in 1985 as the first spa centre in the Netherlands. The thermal bath's healing spring water forms the heart of this spa. Nowadays, the spa has a wealth of additional facilities, such as the kelo sauna or the thalasso therapy studio with various algae treatments. At the massage studio you can opt for a traditional Groningen rapeseed hamam, where you will be lathered with rapeseed soap after your steam bath and scrub treatment.
Besides spa treatments there are also other kinds of relaxation facilities offered at Fontana Resort Bad Nieuweschans. As a guest, you can enjoy free use of a number of facilities, such as the hotel's cinema. You can reserve a seat at the reception. If you prefer being active, you can make free use of the gym, equipped with modern cardio-fitness machines. A large 12-hectare park is close to the spa and perfect for those who love walking.

There is a bus stop just 50 m from the hotel. Guests travelling by train can be picked up from the train station by the Fontana taxi, provided they inform the hotel of their arrival times in advance. The Fontana taxi can also take guests back to the train station at the end of their stay.

An elaborate breakfast buffet is available daily offering regional produce in a non-smoking restaurant Waters of the World. Breakfast times are between 07:30 and 10:30 h. The restaurant is able to cater to different dietary requirements. The à la carte restaurant Waters of the World is open for lunch and dinner from 12:00 to 21:00 h. The lunch menu as well as the dinner menu are created so that you can make a choice from various light dishes. Hotel guests can make unlimited use of the tea and coffee buffet, available throughout the entire day.
There is also an atmospheric bar at the hotel where you can enjoy a drink or two. The bar is aptly called the Vestingpub (The Fortress Pub), as Bad Nieuweschans itself is a fortress town. You can take a seat on the outdoor terrace during warm weather.

Fontana Resort Bad Nieuweschans lies on the outskirts of the fortified town of Bad Nieuweschans. Visit the Vestingmuseum (Fortress Museum) or the beautiful listed buildings in the Voorstraat. If you cross the German border you can visit another historically interesting town, Leer. A little further away is the old university town of Oldenburg, with its shopping precincts and sights such as the Prinzenpaleis palace.
