Nijmegen has a historic centre that has left many traces of its Roman history. Reminders of this period can be found in all parts of the city, although most of them still remain hidden. At the moment, only 1,5 % of all the remains in Nijmegen have been excavated. Besides it rich history, Nijmegen has a lot to offer in the cultural sphere, as it has many stages, theatres, and museums. Museum Het Valkhof is located on the edge of the Valkhofpark, where the emperor Karel de Grote (Charlemagne) built a large fortress. Also, Nijmegen is close to the largest uninterrupted nature area in The Netherlands: De Veluwe.

The extensive breakfast buffet is set up between 07:00 and 10:00h and between 08:00 and 11:00h on weekends. In restaurant OportO guests can enjoy Portuguese specialities, either à la carte or by choosing one of the 3- or 4-course dinners. For lunch and petiscos (Portuguese Tapas) the restaurant is also a good place to visit, especially for lovers of the Portuguese kitchen. The restaurant frequently organises parties with live Portuguese music.
