Omschrijving

Het kleine hotel wordt gerund door een familie. Het meertalige personeel doet er alles aan om ervoor te zorgen dat uw verblijf een fantastische ervaring wordt die u nog lang bij zal blijven. Zij assisteren u graag bij het boeken van een excursie of het huren van een fiets. De kamers hebben een gedeelde badkamer op de verdieping. Alle kamers hebben een televisie, behalve de kamers in de annex. Op aanvraag is een wekkerradio en kofferrek beschikbaar. In de gezellige bar met houtsnijwerk zijn scheepsresten van het schip waarmee de zeeheld Michiel de Ruyter in de 17e eeuw de wereldzeeën bevoer. Er staan maar liefst meer dan 70 verschillende soorten speciaalbier op het biermenu.

Samen met het zusterhotel Old Quarter is dit hotel gelegen op de plek waar ooit de eerste Amsterdamse huizen werden gebouwd. Om de huizen tegen het water van de Amstel te beschermen bouwden ze een dam in de rivier, en zo is de stad aan haar naam gekomen. Tegenwoordig is de Dam een belangrijke attractie in Amsterdam. Het Koninklijk Paleis, de Nieuwe Kerk, de Bijenkorf en Madam Tussauds liggen rondom het plein waar vaak straatartiesten optreden. Op het plein staat ook het Nationaal Monument, ter nagedachtenis aan de oorlogslachtoffers.

Eten en drinken

Het ontbijt wordt geserveerd van 07:30 tot 10:00 uur en bestaat uit eieren met spek, koffie of thee en brood en jam.
De bar is geopend van 09:00 tot 04:00 uur. U heeft de keus uit meer dan 70 biersoorten.

Omgeving

Hotel Old Nickel Amsterdam is centraal gelegen in de bekende rosse buurt van Amsterdam. Vele toeristische attracties zijn op loopafstand van het hotel te vinden, zoals de rondvaartboten aan het Damrak, de Kalverstraat en het schitterende luxe winkelcentrum Magna Plaza, de markt op het Waterlooplein en het interessante museum Nemo. Het gebouw waarin dit museum voor wetenschap en technologie is gevestigd is een echte blikvanger aan het IJ. Het Anne Frank huis, Van Goghmuseum, Rijksmuseum en de Hermitage zijn eveneens zeer mooie musea om te bezoeken. De Nieuwe Kerk heeft vaak interessante tentoonstellingen en de Oude Kerk en Montelbaanstoren zijn aantrekkelijke gebouwen vlakbij het hotel. Amsterdam is een heerlijke stad om al slenterend langs de grachten te verkennen, het centrum is zeer compact.

Anoniem Prettig, gastvrij hotel voor een kort verblijf midden in de stad.: 18 augustus 2011; 8.2; + Midden in (een leuk deel van) het centrum van Amsterdam. Makkelijk contact met personeel, vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, soepel in het maken van afspraken. Budgetprijs. Gezellige en goed voorziene bar in huis (type pub/bruin cafe).; - Geen toilet en douche op de kamer, maar dat wist ik tevoren. Maar voor 1 of 2 nachten bij bezoek van festival, concert en stad een prima optie.

A Locatie maar 2 minuten van CS: 28 februari 2011; 7.4; + Locatie. Warm water. van niemand last in zusterhostel Old Quarter. 24 uur toegang. Koffers kunnen worden gestald in Old Nickel na uitchecken gratis.; - We zaten op de 5e verdieping van de Old Quarter...er is geen lift, maar dit is ook geen uitzondering voor de budget hotels in amsterdam. Prijzig voor type kamer/hotel.

Anoniem Perfect location for having too much fun in Amsterdam: 14 september 2011; 9.2; + Brilliant hotel - was about as cheap as a hostel. Very friendly and relaxed bar staff, curfew of 4am but then the bar stays open and you can get to know the locals! Live music was excellent. Breakfast included. Rooms clean and the location was perfect - 5 mins from central station, 5 mins to RLD, 5 mins to lots of cafes.; - A bit pricey, but actually still one of the cheapest we managed to find in Amsterdam. Maybe not for families, but brilliant for a group of friends.

We paid all on the 1st day but one friend of mine checked in 1day later after the three of us (room for 4) and the man asked for the money and insisted with me that we hadnÂ´t paid. After we show the receipt he made fun of me for complaining. Next day morning, a woman came and again shouted with us saying that my friend didnÂ´t checked in. Besides that, they control you and ask if some of you go out and the others stay at the room. The bedding was burnned from ashes and not so clean.

I really enjoyed my stay there, the woman Ellen that greeted us at the front desk was very friendly and funny. Its perfectly central and everything you need is walking distance, you only have to turn a corner. It is the perfect place to stay for a budget holiday whether your with friends or a partner. You can smoke in your rooms which is a plus and there is no curfew. I found this place perfect for our trip. I would defo recommend this!; - Not much view from our window, but thats all!!!!

Jakub Pure cosiness: 17 oktober 2010; 9.6; + I stayed 2 nights in Old NIckel Hotel and was more than satisfiied. The location could hardly be better. The house with a bar in which the hotel is placed is very very cosy. Both room and bathroom clean, staff very friendly, the breakfast simple but good. They have a very cute ginger cat in the bar :) I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to my friends.; - Slapping of the other rooms' doors was quite disturbing in the evening. The place is relatively noisy, which is the price for the very lively neighbourhood.
