This hotel was built in 1870 and lies in the heart of Oosterwolde, across from the canal the 'Opsterlandse Compagnonsvaart'. Long stretches of woods, heaths, and meres alternately grace the scenery. Especially beautiful is the 'Fochteloërveen', one of the last remaining peat moors. With a little luck birdwatchers might spot the rare crane. In the neighbouring village of Appelscha lies the fun amusement park 'Duinen Zathe'. You can also experience the typical Frisian hospitality of the farmers in this area, where fresh farm products are sold.
