Description
Hotel De Zeven Provinciën has existed since 1666. The former inn was named for the flagship of Admiral Michiel de Ruyter. In that year he came to the 'Texel rede'. In the 17th century, often dozens of ships waited here for a favourable wind and their departure was the beginning of many long voyages. The old heroes used to rest from their long sea voyages or wait for favourable winds in Hotel De Zeven Provinciën. In and around Oudeschild are several historical elements from the VOC period.
Hotel De Zeven Provinciën has changed over the centuries from a simple inn in a modern hotel that fully meets the requirements of today. However, sociability is still important and so is a good price-quality ratio. The hotel is located near the port where the Oudeschild fishing boats come in with their catch. Here you can board a shrimp cutter to fish for shrimp. The boats that offer trips to watch the seals sail with low water along the sandy banks. Oudeschild lies on the side of the Wadden Sea and this part is much sailed. A visit to the Maritime and Beachcombing Museum is a must.
