Great location, unaware that you are in a city

• + Excellent food, large room
• – Lovely large windows in the foyers but the cross beams are thick in dust
• * my tip nice restaurant

perfect for an overnight stay for business travellers

• + very friendly staff / good location close to highway
• – breakfast / no swimming pool / superior rooms not really superior / carpets in the rooms not very clean

Overrated hotel

• + Nice personnel, helpfull
• – Very bad comfort for a 4 stars. Very disapointed of the general state of the detail. Important fault of taste in decoration (easter in this case) Bed was done very badly and looked repulsive Very dissatisfied
• * my tip Nothing to do in the area, just parkings outside the hotels. Having a car is mandatory

Had a pleasant stay at a very nice hotel.

NICE HOTEL BUT NEEDED TO RECHECK YOUR RIGHTS

• – While I booked the hotel room, I received wrong information: 1. It was mentioned that in the romm I will have a free minibar. Not only that it was not free but the minibar was total empty. I went and ask the reception and they said that this is a decission of the hotel as it makes lots of problems to have this minibar!!! 2. In the web there were two types of rooms, I decided to take the more expensive since it was a view facing the zoo, I was asking the reception and she said that they dont

Comfortable smart friendly hotel with great facilities

• + Excellent service provided by highly professional and helpful staff. Provision of smoking rooms, bar and restaurant. The hotel is very well presented. UK and european power outlets in the room, and free internet in the room. Good choice of european language TV channels (English, French, Italian, German, Dutch)
• – No clothes iron in the room - clothes creased in the suitcase stay that way (there may well be provision elsewhere in the hotel, I should have asked at the front desk I guess)
• * my tip bring a travel iron just in case

Neat Hotel Bad Location

• + It's good if you're looking for Isolation.
• – Out of the way from Rotterdam Central, Ahoy, Business centre. No eateries, shops around the place. One has to rely on public transport or taxi to get to an eating place. Who would want to eat at the hotel all days. The transportation cost is more than the Eating out cost. No wireless internet facility.
• * my tip Please do not depend on the hotel for a pick-up or drop to airport or rail station as their transport facility is perenially unavailable.

Nice enough place, but this hotel does NOT have a pool.

• + Nice looking hotel, clean and newish. Check-out time of noon. Free parking. Close to the zoo.
• – Contrary to other van der Valk hotels, the pool is not at the hotel and is not included in the price. For the "special" price of 10 euros per person you can walk next door to the community health club and share the kiddie pool with 50 kids doing swimming lessons. "King size" bed in our superior room was actually two singles pushed together. Breakfast is overpriced at 16,50 per person. Wireless internet costs 12,50 per day.

• – Bed in room was old and tired, it sagged in the middle.

excellent value, great location

• + we had a great deal on our overnight stay which included breakfast & free mini bar.. all for only 92 euro inc tax! the standards overall were very high, atmostphere relaxed.
• – after quietly checking the evening menu we chose to eat somewhere else, but as we left a comment was made by the chap behind the bar who had also initially greeted us. even if it was a joke, he told us unsmiling that sorry but they don't serve fish & chips. we found this comment was inappropriate. offensive & racist

Air con doesn't work!!

• + Service from the staff was good
• – First room, electrics didn't work, second room air con didn't work and it was too hot. Because I had to open the windows, there was the noise from the zoo next door.

Overall good- but careless on details

• + personel was very friendly and tried to resolve the issues there were - obviously not their fault
• – Overall, stay was good, just major points of carelessness which should not happen in a 4 star hotel of this price: 1) room was taken when I came (but still got the key so found out myself) - they had no replacement room except for a disabled room 2) no toilet paper in the room 3) room service forgot to clean dirty coffee cups 4) reception not reachable for more than 15 minutes in the morning as the only staff was somewhere else (no cordless phone) 5) not possible to charge fitness on the bill and no flexibility / effort to solve this problem 6) taxi ordering took very long (reception said it was 5 min- it took more than 10 - not handy when one has to catch a train)

• + Almost Everything was excellent
• – They should either have a Geldautomat or allow guests to get cash on their cards. The hotel is not within walkiing distance of any cash machines.

good restful stay

• + Very Clean; friendly service; rooms very good; great selection of TV programmes; service efficient and kind; modern streamlined design of building; good breakfast buffet; very quiet;
• – standard bathrooms have no bath, only a shower. Parking facilities very few bays for hotel guests on the premises.

There is room for improvement!

• + Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, great design, good value for money, excellent spacy room and bathroom, internet connection possible, coffee & tea facilities, fridge...
• – 1) check in was extremely slow, although I had booked with you on line and almost all details were already given. 2) kitchen service was extremely slow, very long waiting time between courses. 3) had to send my meal back as it was totally overcooked (second time round it was perfect, but quite a waiting time was yet again involved, eating my meal by myself as my partner had long ago finished his plate) 4) airconditioning in the room was totally inadequate (temp was 24C on arrival 18.00, wanted it back to 19C, having the airco on on high the whole night, at 7.00am it was only gone down to 22.5C!! Unacceptable.
