Description
At the Wilhelminapier on the Maas river, Hotel New York is established in the former headquarters of the Holland America Line. Until the early seventies, many passengers set sail to America from here, mostly with New York as their final destination. The symmetric façade of the building is characterized by bay windows, small towers, balconies and beautiful decorations.
The hotel lies at the Kop van Zuid, an area that has seen many delevopments since the nineties. Besides impressive high-rise flats the area also offers restaurants, office buildings, shops and parks. From the hotel you have a magnificent view of the Rotterdam skyline.
In the lobby you can purchase a newspaper or magazine at the small book shop. Across from the oyster bar there is a kiosk, that offers a range of products that are related to the hotel. The New York Barbershop in the basement features a retro-style interior. Here you can have a haircut or a shave.
The hotel rooms vary in colour, shape and interior. All rooms offer air conditioning, a bathroom with a shower and/or bath, toilet, television with a radio and a telephone. Most of the spacious, high rooms have a river view. Throughout the building you can use wireless internet at an additional charge. At the reception you can rent a CD or DVD player. Movies and music are also available.
Food and Drinks
A good breakfast is a must, before you head into the city. The extensive breakfast buffet with egg dishes, a variety of bread and toppings, coffee, tea and fruit juices, is available on week days from 07:00 until 10:00 h. and on the weekend between 07:00 and 11:00 h.
In the large café-restaurant on the ground floor you can enjoy an à la carte dinner, seafood from the oyster bar, or a lovely Afternoon Tea. Meanwhile you can take in the river view. The café-restaurant is open daily from 07:00 until 01:00 h. Between April and September guests can also have food and drinks on the Maaskant terrace. The hotel also offers 24-hour room service, with a small night menu. An additional charge applies for this service.

Surroundings
A trip with the water taxi is a fun way to travel from Hotel New York to the Leuvehaven and Veerhaven harbours. At the Leuvehaven harbour you can learn more about the Dutch maritime history at the Maritiem Museum Rotterdam. Via the fun shops and restaurants along Witte de Withstraat you can easily walk to the Museumpark. Around this park are the museums Kunsthal, Boijmans van Beuningen and the Nederlands Architectuurinstituut.
