The other two nights, it was fine and I could shower in hot water.

If you are on a budget and simply looking for a base from which to explore Rotterdam, this hotel is perfect.; First impression- it is very basic and I would not call the decor "elegant"- the premises could use redecoration to make it more inviting- I didn't want to spend time in the "atmospheric" hotel lobby; even though the space is good with high ceilings it looks like it has been the same for 30 years. The first room I was offered was not acceptable as the shower/ wetroom smelled very bad, and the room had an institutional feel. The stairs are very steep and narrow stepped: carrying a case up or down them takes care & agility, and there is no lift. Even though it is within a 15 minute walk to the city centre, I was told that at night it's best not to walk in certain places near the hotel alone, but in the end I think Rotterdam is safer then most placesand taxis are cheap. There wasn't a hair-dryer in the room.

Op de gangen hingen er wel goede luchtverfrissers, het rook lekker.; De kamer leek schoon, het wordt oppervlakkig onderhouden en rook erg muf. De kussen (verschrompeld in een kussensloop) zowel de dekdeken (zou donzig moeten zijn) waren oud en roken ook muf. Het plaatsen van een lichtverfrisser op de kamer zou een verbetering zijn. Er was een halve avond geen electriciteit op de kamer, werd wel wat aangedaan, heeft een tijdje geduurd en niemand die aangaf dat er weer electriciteit was. Het personeel was zeer op zich zelf, weinig tot geen contact. Bij vertrek, sleutel ingeleverd en je werd de deur uitgekeken.
