Description
Hampshire Hotel - Avenarius can be found at the edge of Ruurlo, a village in the 'Achterhoek' region. The surrounding landscape is marked by woods, meadows and numerous winding rivers. The natural surroundings are perfect for a nice walk or bike ride. At the reception there are rental bikes. For a visit to museums, old mills, and country estates the Achterhoek district is also a good place to visit. Across from the hotel you can admire the Huize Ruurlo castle, where a baron used to live in earlier times. In those days, the baron's guests already used to stay in Hotel Avenarius.
The hotel has comfortable rooms and a number of suites. The rooms are all furnished with Pullman boxspring beds, a bath/shower, and a minibar. In the suites guests can comfortably relax in the Jacuzzi. After a walk in the outdoors you can take a seat by the fireplace in the restaurant, or in the sun at the outdoor café. For receptions and meetings the hotel has three conference rooms to offer, all of which have a capacity of up to 30 persons. Also, guests can park their car for free at the hotel.
Food and Drinks
Monday through Friday the staff set up a breakfast buffet between 07:00 and 10:00 h. and on weekends from 08:00 to 11:00 h. Starting from 11:30 h. one can order lunch items and drinks at the Tapasbar and after 15:00 h. guests can enjoy its tapas dishes. The hotel restaurant has a frequently updated menu. The food combinations of the 4-course menu is inspired by seasonal and regional products. In the buffet hall guests can warm themselves by the fireplace and on sunny days the outdoor café will also be open.

During a stay in the Hampshire Hotel - Avenarius there are a lot of activities to undertake in the surroundings, such as skeet-shooting and archery. Golf enthusiasts can pay a visit to Winterswijk or Lochem. A visit to the maze in Ruurlo is also highly recommended for all ages, as it is known as the largest hedge maze in the world. From the lookout tower in the centre of the maze you can encourage the other visitors down below.
