Van der Valk Hotel Casino Sassenheim is located in the heart of the bulb area at the A44 motorway. Schiphol Amsterdam Airport and Leiden are easy to reach as well as The Hague (Den Haag) and Amsterdam. The hotel offers a trendy Winebar & Lounge, comfortable rooms and an à la carte restaurant. Guests can park their car for free at the hotel.

Van der Valk Hotel Casino Sassenheim is an excellent starting point for nice trips to the beach of Noordwijk or Katwijk. The historic centre of Leiden and Schiphol Amsterdam Airport are also easy to reach. From mid-March to mid-May the 'Keukenhof' spring garden opens its doors. The 'Keukenhof' is a mere 10-minute ride from the hotel. At the hotel there is ample free parking space.

Hotel guests can make free use of the fitness and sauna facilities. The hotel rooms offer all comfortable amenities, such as a bath and/or shower, a television with movie-on-demand, a desk and Internet via the television. The rooms either have a balcony or an outside terrace. For a nice dinner guests can visit the hotel's restaurant and afterwards they can try their luck in the casino.

Food and Drinks

The international breakfast buffet is set up daily from 07:00 to 10:30 h. and offers different bread types, eggs, bacon, fruits and juices among other things.
In the atmospheric à la carte restaurant the staff serve international dishes. The menu offers meat and fish dishes as well as vegetarian options. For children and seniors there are special dishes. In spring 2008 the Winebar & Lounge Ozzo was opened, which has a trendy interior and a waterfront terrace.

In the hotel guests can use WiFi Internet at an additional charge. Tickets for the use of Internet can be purchased at the reception.

Surroundings

Van der Valk Hotel Casino Sassenheim is located in the bulb area, a region between Haarlem and Leiden. In the flowering season the flowers create a true sea of colours. The 'Keukenhof' spring garden is a mere 10-minute ride. The beaches of Katwijk and Noordwijk are also nearby, perfect for a fresh plunge or a long walk on the beach. The city centre of Leiden, with its historic buildings and interesting museums is about 20 minutes by car.

Nice accomodation - Go for better food!!

Very nice cosy room. Nice bathroom and very clean Good idea to be welcomed by the fireplace in tv !

The food in the restaurant. We choose a fish dish, which was very fat with a lot of friture oil anso friture potatoes -and only a pair of overcooked broccoli as garniture. It would have been very nice with more vegetables and a more healty meal. The dessert (diabetic ice and strawberries)good and fresh and saved our day!!

Excellent Value for Money

Even the economy rooms are well equipped and comfortable.

The glass doors leading to the rear of the hotel that can provide access to the rooms around the car park were locked and it was necessary to walk outside without cover to reach the room.

Very poor maintenance of rooms. In our room, the main door/ window for ventilation could not be opened or closed properly; curtains did not fully close due to missing curtain hooks and one of the beds nearly fell apart due to a leg which was unscrewed.

Restaurant food was excellent, except that each night the choice of vegetables was limited. There was a bus stop nearby which was useful as we did not want to drive. Proximity to Leiden and elsewhere is good for non-drivers. In this respect the hotel location is good. It is possible to get a bus to almost anywhere - Amsterdam, The Hague, you name it! Overall, we did enjoy our stay there and would consider it again. The staff were, overall, very good. Friendly and helpful. And, for those interested, get the bus to the Hague and go to the Escher Museum - you will spend two hours fascinated by the exhibits and artworks!

No tea/coffee making facilities in room - nearly every other hotel we have stayed in has this(BIG MINUS). Mattress was too soft, shower was terrible - water pressure not fast enough. Some of the waiting staff did not understand why we wanted milk with our afternoon tea, they seemed surprised!

Reception area and in the breakfast room people smoked, no regard for non-smokers. Room (33) was non smoking but smelled of stale smoke. Lots of noise from the builders, they are building an new large extension and they had the radio on like a disco at 8 am + lots of shouting. Will not go there again.

A very quiet accomodation and also very functional. Also a very fine restaurant with exellent choise of dinner. Replacing the breakfast due to a too early needed start, by a box of rolls, juice and fruit was also good service.

At arrival in the room I found a wet carpet on the windowside and also a pillowcase on the floor. Access to the room by stairs was a little bit uncomfortable

The food and breakfast was very good and the service was good there. Also the location not far from Keukenhof was very good for us in this case.

We had a problem with a broken electrical outlet in our room, which was very dangerous considering that we had a small child crawling around in the room. He could easily have been electricuted. Even though we asked for this to be fixed, nothing happened. Seriously bad!!!

misschien een idee: als ze weten dat de kamer verhuurd wordt om dan alvast het doucheraam te sluiten en de verwarming aan te zetten zodat het bij binnenkomst niet zo steenkoud is en het lang duurt voordat het aangenaam is (in deze wintertijden!)

Goed hotel voor een overnachting, met een goed uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet. Wat erg smakelijk was.

Stof en verontreiniging in de badkamer op de vloer. En op de radiatoren in de kamer. Bij binnenkomst van de kamer was het STEEN koud. Het vroor deze middag -3 graden met een stevige oosten wind. Misschien thermostaat kranen aan brengen? Ook tocht over de vloer vanuit het gangetje. Daarna spoedig aangenaam warm.

Helaas niet voor herhaling vatbaar

Ligging is prima en ook parkeergelegenheid. Diner en ontbijt uitstekend m.uv. het zg. saladebuffet. Mogen ze zich voor schamen.

Ik heb geboekt na het zien van een prachtig modern gebouw. Klopte ook. Alleen de kamers liggen in apart gebouw en zijn helaas meer dan gedateerd. Erg jammer dat de verschillen bij de diverse van der Valk hotels zo extreem groot zijn.
