+ Compared to other Van Der Valk hotels, most rooms have a 80's look.. But it's all clean and everything works like it should.

- It's noisy. We had a room with a door to the next ( to make it a double room). We had a 0600 wakeup call from the neighbors, just going to the toilet/shower etc..

+ Nice sized room, very spacy, clean, all day hot water, great front desk service

- The room was freezing when we first walked in. You could have turned on the radiators prior to our arrival since it was very cold. The bathroom was very cold all the time making it very difficult to take a bath. Far from train services and taxis cost a fortune.

+ Rooms were spacious and very clean, we were given the choice of upgrading which we did and could not fault this. Staff were helpful and polite. Good access for public transport and motorways. Local information guide given about area. Only stayed two nights so did not get chance to visit local area, Amsterdam was our aim.

- No real minus points. Food was abit expensive when paying for a family of 4, and not enough vegetarian options. But probably in line with what a family would pay if coming to London.

- restaurant overpriced for fast food at al a carte price,waited an hour for food,we had problems with tv,internet and worst off all our room had no taps on the bath so spent 20 mins filling tub with shower,were offererd a free cup of tea or coffee next time as compensation an insult after using this hotel for 15 years

+ the motel main building was absolutely beautiful! Decor absolutely amazing, staff friendly, ozzo bar and staff fantastic! Restaurant top class. Motel rooms outside were a good size, lovely soft beds and decor lovely...very clean throughout the complex...very classy

- One issue ruined my stay and that was the 'double' bed that I booked..it was 2 singles just pushed together but wouldnt stay together and was an absolute nightmare causing me to have sleepless nights because had to keep getting out and pushing mattresses together because arm was getting trapped in the gap etc.....very upsetting and annoying.

+ Modern hotel, close to major highways, no faults, not very inspiring either, good room rate for a location close to Amsterdam airport. Abundance of human hair on my bed was resolved quickly with a complimentary upgrade, good breakfast.

+ Light and airy good-sized room, Comfortable bed. Free parking right outside the room. Excellent and reasonably priced restaurant.

- The room seemed a little dated and a bit disappointing after seeing the modernity and luxury of reception although nothing basically wrong with it other than being a little tired and dated.

+ Good facilities, friendly and helpful staff, great for cycling as can store bikes. Clean hotel. Great bar and good selection of wines in the bar. Good selection for breakfast - value for money

- Rooms were a little dated in terms of decor. Food in restaurant was not great - steak was very overcooked - disappointing.

+ Excellent breakfast with champagne a nice touch & dinner too ..........lovely restaurant. A nice welcome from Anita in receptionon arrival who noticed my recent birthday & offered her congratulations. Unfortunately we had to cut short our stay.

- We checked in approx 9pm after arriving at Schiphol on an evening flight. The room was so so cold & therefore unwelcoming. Suggest that at this time of year when guests are arriving late the radiators are turned on .

+ Very nice cosy room. Nice bathroom and very clean Good idea to be welcomed by the fireplace in tv !

- The food in the restaurant. We choose a fish dish, which was very fat with a lot of friture oil anso friture potatoes -and only a pair of overcooked broccoli as garniture. It would have been very nice with more vegetables and a more healty meal. The dessert (diabetic ice and strawberries)good and fresh and saved our day!!

- The glass doors leading to the rear of the hotel that can provide access to the rooms around the car park were locked and it was necessary to walk outside without cover to reach the room.

- Very poor maintenance of rooms. In our room, the main door/ window for ventilation could not be opened or closed properly; curtains did not fully close due to missing curtain hooks and one of the beds nearly fell apart due to a leg which was unscrewed.

+ Restaurant food was excellent, except that each night the choice of vegetables was limited. There was a bus stop nearby which was useful as we did not want to drive. Proximity to Leiden and elsewhere is good for non-drivers. In this respect the hotel location is good. It is possible to get a bus to almost anywhere - Amsterdam, The Hague, you name it! Overall, we did enjoy our stay there and would consider it again. The staff were, overall, very good. Friendly and helpful. And, for those interested, get the bus to the Hague and go to the Escher Museum - you will spend two hours fascinated by the exhibits and artworks!

- No tea/coffee making facilities in room - nearly every other hotel we have stayed in has this(BIG MINUS). Mattress was too soft, shower was terrible - water pressure not fast enough. Some of the waiting staff did not understand why we wanted milk with our afternoon tea, they seemed surprised!

- Reception area and in the breakfast room people smoked, no regard for non-smokers. Room (33) was non smoking but smelled of stale smoke. Lots of noise from the builders, they are building an new large extension and they had the radio on like a disco at 8 am + lots of shouting. Will not go there again.

+ A very quiet accomodation and also very functional. Also a very fine restaurant with exellent choise of dinner. Replacing the breakfast due to a too early needed start, by a box of rolls, juice and fruit was also good service.

- At arrival in the room I found a wet carpet on the windowside and also a pillowcase on the floor. Access to the room by stairs was a little bit uncomfortable

+ The food and breakfast was very good and the service was good there. Also the location not far from Keukenhof was very good for us in this case.

- We had a problem with a broken electrical outlet in our room, which was very dangerous considering that we had a small child crawling around in the room. He could easily have been electricuted. Even though we asked for this to be fixed, nothing happened. Seriously bad!!!
