Hotel de Tjattel is located between the church and the 'white lighthouse,' in the island's only village. Schiermonnikoog is the smallest community in The Netherlands, as well as the northernmost. It has a wonderful natural scenery and is an excellent place simply to enjoy the passage of time.
Hotel de Tjattel will give you a warm welcome in its hospitable environment. The hotel has 14 double rooms and one family room for four persons. All rooms have their own shower, toilet, and television. Guests can use the wireless Internet connection for free. The hotel has a homely bistro and café. On nice days you can have a drink or a bit to eat at the sidewalk café.
Food and Drinks
In the mornings the hotel serves a breakfast buffet between 08:30 and 10:00 h. For a delicious and extensive lunch you can pay a visit to the atmospheric dining room or the sidewalk café. For dinner, the hotel has a diverse menu of meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes. In addition, there is a special 3-course meal that changes daily. The restaurant is open for lunch from 12:00 h. to 15:00 h. and for dinner from 16:30 h. to 21:00 h.
In the lively café, the place where the islanders meet, you may enjoy a nice cup of coffee, various drinks, and quick bar snacks. The café stays open until 02:00 h. on busy days.

As one of the Frisian Islands, Schiermonnikoog has the North Sea to the north and the Wadden Sea to the south. In 2006 Schiermonnikoog was voted to be the 'most beautiful place in The Netherlands.' The island was praised for its quiet, especially because there are no cars allowed on the island. On Schiermonnikoog you will encounter beaches, dunes, woods, salt marshes, mudflats, and reclaimed land. It is a great place to go walking, biking, or swimming.
