Best Western Hotel Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Definitely NOT a 4 star hotel

• + The hotel is centrally located and easy to find
• – You can stand half a hour at the reception desk without anyone noticing you because they were busy talking. Bed covers were dirty (there were big white milky stains on both covers. We don't need to know what the previous guests did on top of the covers. There were spots of coffee stains on the wall that could have been easily cleaned. The towels were in my opinion recycled 10 000 000 times they were literally fallen apart. This hotel should be rated a 2- 3 star hotel and NOT 4 star hotel.

Perfect place to overnight after missing flight at Schiphol!

• + Very near Schiphol airport with free shuttle bus every half-hour from quite early to quite late (I think 06:00 - 23:00 approx. but you should check with hotel if you need this). Breakfast had a good choice. The room was very quiet and also very dark with good quality heavy curtains so I slept really well
• – After I booked the room on the website I couldn't find the details of the shuttle times or exactly where it goes from on their website and as it was late I ended up taking a taxi for approx. €15. When I got to the hotel I found there had still been shuttles running but I suggested to staff at hotel to look at how easy it was to get this info from website.
• * my tip Phone hotel to confirm shuttle times and locations as you may need to book a space on one at busy times. Also ,be on time for shuttle - the one I took left a few minutes earlier than advertised!

Nice clean modern hotel

• + quiet, clean, has wi fi , food available
• – No choice of pillows, only one large hard pillow and it made for a restless night. The pillow is the hardest I've ever encountered in a hotel. For watching TV or reading the support was great, but not so for sleeping. I'm sure you can find inexpensive softer pillows to accommodate the few who prefer them.

The Best Western Hotel is the BEST startin point for your journey

• + I was pleased to find such a reasonably- priced hotel so close to Schiphol. The booking and confirmation was easy, the receptionist very helpful and friendly, the shuttle ideal, and being able to get to the airport for such a long flight so early, meant that I was not stressed and could enjoy my breakfast and start my journey refreshed! Thank you Best Western Hotels Schiphol!

• * my tip Didn't venture out of the hotel! Had spent the day at the Rijksmuseum and was tired! Needed to top up my batteries for the journey. (Get some rest and energy!)

• * my tip Very convenient to airport and also if you want to rent a car and want to save yourself the airport rental fee, the car rental is very close to there. Will come back to the hotel in future.

• – The place was nice, yet many of the details deacribed were not as advertised. Such as the restaruant was not.open all day, they dis not serve all.items on their menu, then if you did order something from they had available you did not get what was listed on the menu, & they over charged for what you order, so watch those menu prices. Both the food joint & bar are ran by the same person.just go in town to eat & drink. Staff was unorganzied. Overall i would not stay again.

Good value for the money.

• + Shuttle service to the airport was very handy for us. The wifi worked well. We were able to clearly commuicate in English.
• – We couldn't regulate the heat in the room. It was too warm for sleeping. The bedside lamps were not properly connected to the electrical cords. It would have been nice to have a bowl of fruit available in the lobby.
• * my tip Very efficient shuttle service to the airport making it a convenient location for a layover.

Hotel has potential but needs improvement

• + TV was good size. Large comfortable toilet/bath. Safe was usable, easy to operate. Reception desk should have coins (for soda machine) and for tips.
• – First room offered was too hot, second was too cold. Room temp control not working. Bedsheets were not changed daily, there were stains on cover. Beds were not properly made. Bathroom was clean but smelled of urine. Towels old and frayed. Soap/shampoo containers were so small, not even enough to bathe a child! Needs more food machines. Some airport shuttle drivers were nasty, did not even help carry bags.
• * my tip Guests should avail of free airport shuttle. Have all your meals at Schiphol airport - more variety and for less money than the hotel. Bring your own towels and soap.

Hotel suitable for short stay / stopover

• + We booked 72 hours before arrival and considered the heavily discounted room very reasonable. The shuttle bus runs regurarly from Schiphol Airport which was complementary.
• – The restaurant was very disappointing. The food was inedible yet we were still charged and not offered replacement / alternative meals. Their was one server to approximately 8 diners; a long wait to recieve menus; and, order. Overall, the hotel was understaffed, staff were poorly trained, overwhelmed and unprofessional.
• * my tip Unless you intend to travel into Amsterdam centre for a meal, eat at Schiphol Airport. Alternately, there is a McDonald's directly opposite the hotel.

Best Western stoops to YMCA standards.

• + Affordable for an international chain close to one of the world's busiest airports.
• – On a non-smoking floor there was a permanent smell of tobacco smoke in the hall which was sucked into the room when the bathroom fan was on. Bathroom and one bedside light didn't work - I've no idea why the cleaners didn't report them. Coffee kit was inadequate for 1 occupant: not enough coffee for 1 cup and powderede milk is not what I expect from BW. Dinner consisted of a chewy pan fried bought in scntizel and microwaved frozen veg, and breakfast was WELL below expectation: no toaster, and
• * my tip If your non-smoking corridor stinks of smoke, demand to be moved. Eat elsewhere. There's a Big Mac across the car park - that'd be better.

Affordable place near the airport

• + Your proximity to the airport and the free shuttle service were the main reasons for choosing your place.
• – The coffee maker in our room was defective, however the hotel receptionist promptly replaced it within a few mins,
