citizenM Amsterdam Airport is a luxurious and affordable hotel close to the terminals and the train station of Schiphol. You can reach the hotel via the covered foot path from terminal 3. By train the city centre of Amsterdam can be reached 24 hours a day in just 20 minutes.

This first hotel in the new citizenM hotel chain has rooms that are all equipped with such luxurious amenities as a king-size bed, LCD television, climate control, free wireless internet and a rain shower. With the Philips Moodpad guests can change the colour and the temperature in the room.

In the living rooms, designed by Vitra, you can watch television and enjoy a drink or snack. Working space is available as well with several public computers. Guests can make free use of wireless internet. City guides, design books and travel accessories are available in canteenM.

The hotel has won 4 prizes at the European Sleep Event, including European Design hotel of the year 2008!

Food and Drinks

At any time guests can visit canteenM. An à la carte breakfast is availabe here 24 hours a day. The hotel's own baristas will create a good cup of coffee. You can also order nice dishes such as sushi, wraps, snacks and soup. Later in the day canteenM offers draft beers, cocktails and champagnePlease note: the price for the à la carte breakfast is approximately €10 depending on what you order.

A nice, modern hotel for the solo business traveller.

This hotel is full of innovative technology, and it is quite easy to use. There are not many instructions, and the few around are brief, but generally, if you just pause for a moment, it is easy to figure out what to do. The room is comfortable, and individually climate controlled.

The batteries on the remote control don't last very long (< 2 hr). Sometimes, switching channels on the TV takes a long time.

Handy but soulless

Handy for the airport - 5 mins walk away. Huge bed, slightly bizarre toilet and shower set up but the shower was great. if you like controlling everything in your room via one handy remote you will love this hotel

A slightly soulless stay - upon arriving at midnight the front desk person immediately pointed me to the check in machine, and let me figure it out - i don't know, maybe efficency is the name of the game - . also the bar was empty at midnight on a friday - but then its an airport hotel..

Unique room design. Especially the remote controlled lights, tv, temperature etc. Also the toilet and shower.

Would have been nicer if the printer where the free internet terminals were worked so that we could print our boarding passes.

Great design and all of the above!

The bartender was genuinely helpful and a pleasure to speak to. He was very professional and fun. The rooms were amazing and futuristic and you can't beat the free movies. I stayed with my sister and she was in awe! The hotel overall is very spacious and convenient in terms of amenities and proximity to the airport. It had ethernet connection and privacy panels to work on in the first floor business area. It was clean and designed to keep the traveller curious and excited by the environment. Loved it and would definitely go back.

There was only a cold bagged breakfast available that was overpriced for 10 euros. Maybe some eggs next time? There was no ethernet cable connection in the room.

Great concept and comfortable stay but food not so good

Excellent convenient location, great room and staff were friendly and helpful

Arriving late evening from a delayed flight, I would have liked to be able to have a proper meal and there was little choice available. The food service set up seems very impersonal and "plastic" - not to my liking though I can understand the difficulties of providing 24h service. Even a good salad would have been welcome. Breakfast was not great either and did not seem good value to me.

Helpfull staff handle hurdles.

Tired travelers should not have to be challenged by the computerized check in. Fortunatly there was someone to assistus, but others had to wait while we were being serviced.

The bed was extremly comfortable really good sleep! The many varieties of movies was also great!

Staff was not very polite and when I came for breakfast they said that I had to wait for my croissants for 20minutes because they did not have anything left, or I had to just take something else. was not very nice! The waitress acted like it was my fault that there where no more croissants. This was not a very pleasant way to start your day with I must say. So I decided to eat at the airport.

Welcoming and modern hotel offering comfort and efficiency

All staff were welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable and obviously enjoyed where they all worked. The style and atmosphere was very modern and funky. The bed was comfy and I thought the design was well thought out with efficient use of space.

I would suggest the price, although not overly expensive, could be reduced slightly due to the compactness of the rooms. The loss of revenue on each room I'd have though would be offset by the extra rooms fitted into the hotel

Signage for finding the hotel from Schiphol's plaza is poor. I had trouble finding the hotel. I missed having a drinking glass or cup for brushing my teeth etc.

Overall, a very nice design hotel for a stay over at the airport.

Bed was very nice.

Remote control was out of batteries. A minimal staffed reception would have been handy: I arrived with a headache and found no place to get an Aspirin. (The airport terminal is close, so I could have walked back - but that's not what you do when having a headache.) There was also a fire alarm in the night and the one person on staff had a difficult time managing the grumpy guests.

Convenient but a hotel that thinks too much for its visitor!

The hotel was very convenient and quiet considering its proximity to the airport. The food choices were limited and so I ended up eating at the airport, which was rubbish!

The themed approach meant that you had to control everything by machine and couldn't do things for yourself - this became irritating. Personally I would still prefer curtains and light switches over buttons and control panels.

The best place for a one night stopover

Staff extremely polite, cheerful & friendly without seeminge false. I found that this created a particularly relaxes atmosphere.

I found your sineage a little difficult. In particular the signs for the toilets - I could not tell which was which. Better stick to the conventional signs for this one.

Checking in and out was quick and easy. The room was clean, the touchpad was easy to use and there was a good selection of movies on demand. Great for a short stay.

There wasn't enough towels, there was 2 people staying in the room but there was only 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel.

Very interesting hotel - enjoyable and interesting. VOIP phone cheap.

Very interesting concept -- enjoyable and interesting. I enjoyed the main lobby level as a common public space with lounges/business meeting rooms and eating bar area. Very important to have computer area with supplied computers. Also the VOIP phone service was superb - very inexpensive. Loved the hotel and concept -- I would stay again.

Red entry way was overwhelming upon arrival. Red is a strong colour and challenging when people are tired from travelling. How about a relaxing colour such as blue? Occassionally the remote control box had delays... and the shower handle was a little bit stiff to move into position. A lever would have been better.

We found the format of the hotel surprising. Room was very comfortable, staff terrific. The location was 5 minutes walk to airport, very nice. We would stay again! Hope to see locations in the US!
