Surroundings
The Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Airport is situated close to the Nieuwe Meer. This lake borders the Amsterdamse Bos where you can enjoy nature. The city council decided to plant these woods in 1928 to offer the citizens of Amsterdam a new recreation area. In the meantime it has grown out to be a popular sight which attracts over 4 million visitors a year. In the weekends there is a ferry connection from the western side of the lake to the northern side of the woods. This is a fast and enjoyable way to reach the Amsterdam Bos from the hotel. The ferry leaves a few hundred meters from the hotel.

- wrong booking
- - good restaurant with good beers
- - Shuttle was not there. 35 Min. waiting time was to long.
- electronic booking confirmation was correct (2 romms for 1 night)- at arrival, reservation was only made for 1 personen for 2 nights - long checking after long waiting for airport bus and long working day (5 a.m. - 20 p.m.).

- Convenient, clean, pleasant--easy last night before flight..
- Shuttle driver very pleasant--originally from Iran.
Outdoor area next to diningroom/ bar area--very pleasant setting
Reception employees helpful, courteous.
- Long walk to room down a long corridor to elevator and then back down a long corridor on the floor of my room.
Elevator too discretely "hidden" --I kept walking past it even once I figured out where it wasw ande where to look.
I would liked to have had a continental breakfast with the room--wouldn't have expected a big breakfast, but a continental one would have been nice. But for Euros 20 for the breakfast--it wasn't worth it to me. Grabbed something at the airport.

- great location - 15 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from the city centre (by bus), very nice and friendly staff, clean and cosy room, free transport to/from the airport, it's better if you obtain a special offer breakfast included, otherwise it's quite expensive

- My Recommendation to Stay at the Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Airport
- I am very satisfied with my 3D/2N stay at Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Airport recently. The hotel is clean and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Further more, the Breakfast is also very good. The free airport shuttle is also being provided on very professional basis. Congratulation to Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Airport. I am looking forward for the next stay in future.

- OK, but expensive. I've stayed in better Mercure hotels ...
- Comfortable, convenient to IBM and the airport. Liked the BBC TV. Room was clean and seemed well kept. The reception staff were very helpful.
- Quite expensive for a weekend stay. The breakfast was VERY expensive - 20 Euros and fifty cents! I had an orange from the reception and some leftover chocolate from my bag to keep me going until I could reach somewhere better. The barman was very grumpy and refused to split the bills properly. Strange.

- Terrible shuttle service
- The hotel was as good as I expected for the price
- The free shuttle service is appalling, it took me over an hour to get from the airport to the hotel by using it. The return to the airport was a little better but still is a 45 minute journey stopping and starting at various other hotels along the route.
I flew from the UK to Holland in less time than it took to travel from AMS airport to the Mercure "Airport" Hotel.
In my experience an "airport hotel" is usually close to an airport and quick and easy to get to and from.
I will not be staying there again unless they change the shuttle service.

- comfortable stay
- The staff as I checked in, were very helpful, clear in the information they gave, and welcoming.
I was comfortable in my room, it was quiet and I had a very good rest.
- I am sure it would be hard to do anything about this, but I wished the shuttle bus to the airport was a little more frequent.
I had to leave too early in the morning to get breakfast - I would have loved a way to have a cup of coffee before leaving.

- Mark your shuttle bus as "Mercure"
- The reception desk was very friendly - like everybody else in Holland. A very pleasant country to visit.
- The shuttle bus was not properly marked. I missed it twice and spent in the bus station for a few hours until somepne told me I should not look for Mercure bus.

- Close to Airport, price was lower than hotels in the city. Free shuttle to and from airport, but not very convienient.

- The room was comfortable and a good size. Excellent bathroom facilities.
Pleasant service at front desk.
- The shuttle from the airport to the hotel took a long time to arrive. It was suppossed to arrive at 20:40 and we were there at that time but it did not arrive until 21:20, so there was a very long wait. The return to the airport in the morning was a lot better at 5:40 a.m. and it was on time!

- We received a very good price by reserving our room online. The restaurant was very good and we had an excellent meal with fine service. We chose not to have the large buffet breakfast (E 16) but were given cappucino gratis. Ice machines were on every floor. The room was adequate and air-conditioned. A shuttle was on time and got us to the airport in less than a half hour, although it made several stops on the way.
- The bottom floor was all smoking. To get to our upstairs non-smoking floor we had to walk through a downstairs, very smelly long hallway that not only smelled like stale smoke but like raw sewage. It was not a good first impression. The upstairs hallways were much cleaner, although very worn.

- The accomidations were excellent and most of the staff was very helpful, kind and courtious.
- The hotel is VERY far from the city and due to the distance between the airport and the hotel I had to rely upon the shuttle service to get back and forth, but the shuttle stops at 11:45 at night... which is unfortunate because I would've liked to spend more time out in Amsterdam at night.
Also, one staff member (I do not remember his name) had problems with letting me out of the hotel at night when I wanted to go outside and walk around, Id walk out to go outside, he would see me then look away, id try to walk out and the sliding door wouldnt open, so then id ask him to let me out and hed say something like, "What? You want to go outside?" Well... thats WHY I TRIED TO WALK OUTSIDE!

- Not in city center, no near public transport (bus, metro). To reach city center (central station) you may take the free shuttle bus (until h 23.45) every 30' to airport and then reach city by train (5' shuttle + 15' train). Good but take a look to clock ;-)

- carpet and blankets were not clean enough (some parts of the carpet and of the blankets have quite visible spots)
elevator doors are very heavy (especially for disabled people - like in our case one was so in the room)
internet cards: I used only one time and bought one 15 minutes card but had to request twice a good card. the assistant at the reception was very nice but she said she unfortunately had no chance to know check why some cards could not work.

- I appreciated the effort made by the hotel to send an email to warn their guests up-front on the cancellation of complimentary shuttle bus service on Christmas. However, the mistake was on the incorrect information.
- I am very disappointed that the shuttle bus service was stopped during christmas. One of the strength of the hotel that is recommended by many, is the complimentary & efficient shuttle bus. Without this, the hotel's location became an issue. What makes me even more disappointed was the incorrect information given by the hotel. The mentioned nearest bus stop to the hotel, was actually another bus stop 15-20 mins away by bus. I wasted time looking for the correct bus stop & asking around.
