Description
Hotel Van der Valk Spier opened in 1989. It is a grand and luxurious hotel with many rooms and large halls that can be used for various occasions. This is why both business travellers and tourists from The Netherlands and abroad have always found their way to this excellent hotel. Hotel Spier has a spacious and atmospheric lounge where guests can also have a bite to eat in the evening. On sunny days guests enjoy to sit outside on the outdoor café by the finely laid-out garden.
The atmospheric and modern standard rooms are all equipped with a bath, shower, and toilet. In addition, the room is furnished with a television, safe, minibar, and extremely comfortable armchairs.
Food and Drinks
From 07:00 h. the hotel serves an extensive breakfast buffet in the restaurant.
You are also welcome here for a good lunch. The kitchen opens at 12:00 h.
There is a great dinner to be had in the atmospheric and modernly decorated à la carte restaurant as well. Guests from all over the world come here to enjoy the national and international specialities based on the French-Dutch culinary traditions.
There is a special 'Timo Toekanmenu' for children, as well as a children's activity programme to keep them entertained. This will allow the parents to enjoy their dinner in peace.

The hotel is equipped with a wireless Internet connection (WiFi) via KPN Hotspots. These hotspots can be found in all public rooms, in the lobbies, and the restaurants. Surroundings
Within walking distance from hotel Van der Valk Spier lies the gorgeous nature reserve 'Nationaal Park Dwingelderveld'. This landscape is typical for Drenthe, with it long stretches of heaths, woods, and meres. Also worth seeing is the more than 50 years old radio telescope, which stretches above the treetops of this nature reserve. This telescope once enabled the discovery of two galaxies, Dwingeloo I and II. For more astronomy you can visit the Planetron in Dwingeloo, which has a space theatre that projects films about the galaxy.
