Best Western Hotel De Woudzoom can be easily found in the village Spier, on the A28 motorway between Assen and Hoogeveen. Best Western Hotel De Woudzoom Spier lies 200 metres from National Park 'Dwingelderveld', a wonderful area that is perfect for hiking or biking. Two-thirds of its 3.700 hectares is made up of woods, the rest of heaths. As you walk over the heaths you are sure to notice one of many herds of sheep. In the middle of this park the 50 year old radio telescope rises above the tree tops. This telescope has once enabled the discovery of two galaxies, Dwingeloo I and II. Those who have an interest in astronomy can visit the Planetarium in Dwingeloo.
