Bilderberg Château Holtmühle is a stately, recently completely renovated, medieval chateau where grandeur and exuberant indulgence seamlessly merge with the serene tranquility and pure luxury of the appealing interior. Admire the cellar vaults during an extensive dinner at restaurant Die Alde Heerlickheijt, a true discovery for real connoisseurs. You can also enjoy a good glass at the fireplace in the attractive bar & lounge. If weather permits, you can make use of the chic terraces by the castle moat. You can relax at the spa and wellness centre with swimming pool, sauna and Turkish steam bath. Or are you looking for something a little sporty? Then go for it in the gym or enjoy a game of tennis on the tennis court.

Discover the beautiful surroundings of the river Meuse's valley. Take lovely walks or cycling trips through picturesque villages, rolling hills and beautiful scenery. Visit Venlo or Roermond, the Hertog Jan brewery, the Arcen Castle Gardens or putt a hole-in-one on one of the golf courses in the area.

The hotel rooms are equipped with a television, telephone, trouser press and a private bathroom. For some relaxation guests can visit the sauna, solarium, swimming pool and tennis court. Besides the idyllic ambience, the castle premises form an excellent location for seminars, meetings and corporate training. Dinners and banquets can also be effortlessly arranged. The Holtmühle Castle is located next to the Ravensheide, a nature reserve with enchanting woods. You can find many castles in the surroundings as well as authentic, half-timbered houses and churches. Surroundings

There are numerous biking and hiking tracks in the vicinity of Bilderberg Château Holtmühle. The castle gardens and ponds are also a charming sight. The surroundings offer several picturesque villages, abbeys and monasteries, which you can admire. The towns of Venlo, Roermond and Maastricht are perfect for a day trip. The village of Arcen, with its Castle Gardens and the Hertog Jan beer brewery is also well worth a visit.

Food and Drinks

Guests may enjoy the Bilderberg breakfast from 07:00 to 10:00 from Monday to Friday and from 08:00 to 10:30h on Saturday and Sunday. Restaurant Die Alde Heerlickheijt is located in the cellar vaults of the castle. It provides guests with a pleasant atmosphere and delicacies from the modern kitchen with Mediterranean influences. For lunch you can visit the restaurant on Monday to Friday between 12:30 and 14:00. Dinner is served from Monday to Sunday between 18:00 and 21:00.

A great romantic getaway but not worth a tourists time.
  • + The food at the restaurant was absolutely awesome. Do eat both dinner and breakfast here. It is worth the time and money. At dinner the chef came out and explained the 4 course meal. The atmosphere was wonderful and the wait staff friendly. The room we stayed in had a wonderful view over the pond with ducks & a swan. There was a beautiful walking trail and a small museum adjacent (all in Dutch).
  • – The main building was built around 1300's (I think) but the rooms were built in the last century. It was more of a chateau than a castle. We came by train which was a little difficult since Tegelen is not on a main line (but not bad). It was about a 20 min walk from the train station but there were lots of signs pointing the way. We saw no taxis. The hotel did order us a taxi to return to the train station (about $12 - E8). Overall it was something nice to do once but I do not see ourselves doing it again or even recomending it to other just visiting Europe. It was not worth the little bit of time we had in the area. If you live in the area and want a nice romatic getaway I would recommend it.

  • – We had one of the worst rooms under the roof without bug screens. Of course the mosquitoes kept us awake all night. (As a real castle,it is surrounded by water)

  • + Really nice big rooms and bathrooms (in modern extension). Excellent restaurant if you can afford the prices (around 20 - 28 Euros for main course). Very nice bar with small but good and affordable bar menu. Very good breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Despite the minuses all round a very nice hotel.
  • – The "grounds" are a bit overstated on the website and most of the hotel is in a modern extension at the back of the chateau. No minibar in rooms and too many things (swimming pool, tennis court, bathrobe) cost extra to use.

Desert was promised within 10 minutes. Took waitress more than ten minutes to return for order, so abandonned. Offer a bottle of water as compensation after signing for bill - added insult to injury.
