Very kind and helpful staff. Clean and tidy hotel. Great peaceful location. Near all the sights. Lovely warm room. Extremely pleasant stay, would definately go back.

Room 404 shower is across the hall. Only room like this so I would advise booking over phone and ask not to get this room. Shower/toilet room was small but did the job. Thin walls, but this is to be expected and had luckily extremely quiet neighbours.

Cheap, basic, but a handy base.

Great value. Nice view of the Rijksmuseum from the deluxe room, which was pretty spacious, and nice and warm. Breakfast was simple but a pleasant bonus given the price. They were happy to hold luggage before and after check in/out times, although this was just left in the (mostly attended) reception area.

In desperate need of a lick of paint or renovation. Kettle in the room but no cups or drinks. When we asked for cups were told there were no cups for the rooms, only at breakfast! Returned in the afternoon and had to wait 15 minutes in the cold for someone to let us in or answer the phone! Double bed was 2 single mattresses pushed together, which had seen better days.

Excellent friendly staff. Super location for site seeing. I would recommend it as a short saty hotel for a long weekend.

Very steep stairs up to entrance and our double room wasnt very big but adequate with a useful en suite . Our tea making facilities were outside our room in the breakfast area . We thought they would havebeen in our room !

good place if you're not picky.

i had the whole floor to myself once the party-goers left at the end of the weekend. it was comfortable and the location was excellent.

i chose this hotel because i was told they had wi-fi, i was not able to access the internet from the hotel. i also chose the hotel because they were "smoker-friendly," the signs on the doors of the rooms say hash and grass are allowed in the bar but when i tried to smoke in the bar they told me it wasn't allowed anywhere in the hotel. the first night i stayed, a saturday, i could hear multiple people in multiple rooms being loud, slamming doors, throwing up in the bathrooms, running up and down the stairs... the walls are so thin you can hear all conversation in all surrounding rooms. this went on literally all night until check-out the next morning.

Great! A+ for small budgets

Great location, excellent price. In the very heart of Centrum Amsterdam, 2 min from Central Station and 2 min from Red Light District. The bar on the ground floor is quite cool and drinks are cheap. You are allowed to smoke whatever you want in the rooms, in case you want. Thank you very much, I had a great time.

Can get really noisy during the night, don't bother bringing earbuds because the hotel provides them for free. Don't travel with a lot of suitcases; there is no elevator and the stairs... you'll see.

Cosy hotel, quiet neighbourhood, but still close to the centre. Just opposite the street there is a playground, which our children loved. Very friendly host.

Happy to make repeat visit

Old building overlooking the canal. Slightly further out of the central district so no problem with late night noise. Room small but clean with one of the few en-suite shower rooms that seem to be in Amsterdam! Good breakfast included (continental). We were thankful for the central heating. We would be happy to stay there again.

Lift not working so had to climb 2 flights of stairs as well as a number of steps getting into the hotel in the first place. Not suitable for someone with walking disability. If you want modern comfort this is not the hotel to go to. This is an old building that has been transformed into a hotel. Could not open the window for fresh air in the room.

Old-fashioned Dutch hospitality!

In this small hotel the very friendly and helpfull staf gave a warm and welcoming reception and made us feel at home. They served reasonable priced traditional Dutch food and there was a great Jazz jam-session on Monday evening. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

The fact that smoking is allowed in the rooms, which causes pillows and blankets to smell after smoke.

It's nice to feel that the employees care

I was so happy with the girls at the reception. Friendly and smiling, willing to help when asked. Immediate service (I only remember the name Jeanine, but the other girl was also quite nice). Quiet place, comfortable stay. I appreciate that I was allowed to stay at a 1st floor room instead of a 3rd floor, because I hap a heavy luggage, without extra charge. The best part was the already-marked map, which showed the sights and the bus number that would take you there. Cool!

I know you hear this all the time, but isn't it possible to install an elevator? It was almost impossible to bring my luggage down - and quite dangerous. I kept thinking 'what if something happens now, who will be paying for the hospital?' And I also think that there were some stains on my bed cover.

Stay here it's really good!

Everything! We had a double room with a bathroom, it was clean and modern, the beds were really comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful - The location is fantastic for Leidseplein! This will be my first choice next time we come back to Amsterdam - you cannot find anything better for the money!

We were allowed to smoke weed out the back of the hotel!! good for young people that wana have a laugh and like to smoke cannabis as there is lots of coffee shops near by and pubs! Small cramped room.very basic.had to give in key every time we went out, which was a little uncomforting, but we always kept our most important stuff on us so we didnt really mind.got a bit of a rash from a horrible itchy blanket on the bed, so we just didnt use it and used the other ones on the bed.the breakfast was good for free but the only hot food was hard boiled eggs! no fry up or even toast.shared shower, but at least it was hot and clean.not much really, maybe not so good for older people or bigger families.steep stairs but thats everywhere u go in amsterdam.

Large but dated room

The twin room was large, more like an apartment, without the kitchen, and felt more like Amsterdam living than Amsterdam hotel-ing. Beds were comfortable, and the privacy of a separate entrance to the hotel was good.

Breakfast was very poor, and despite it being 8-12, by 11, most stuff had gone. Also note that when you book a room with private bathroom, it's not ensuite, but actually in the hall with a separately locked door. It was fine, but not everyones cup of tea. Room was dated and not properly cleaned.

The morning guy was helpful and kind.

If you book a "room with shower" - it means "room with shower" no toilet. It was very cold, I arrived at 11pm and the heating had been turned off. The bedding looks highly flammable and was VERY thin. The room looked dirty.
