- My wife and I like the ambiance. Quality/price real good. Location excellent ( I was borne and raised about 2 kms away from there and used to play in that area a lot).
- -You used to serve some nice sparkling wine (champagne-like) at arrival but stopped doing that recently. That is a pity: re-instate the habit!. -You spent a lot of money doing up the bathrooms: excellent! What a huge pity that you just did not go that little extra kilometer and installed thermostatic taps in the shower/bath. You know more than anybody else about the problems with hot/cold water in hotels, especially in the morning and you passed up the opportunity to get rid of that by some 90% by not investing that 150 euro per room. To me that is the difference between a 7 and a 9 - The bath tubs are excellent shape and size, but slippery: dangerous for everybody but especially for elderly persons. Please do something about it so as not to destroy an otherwise excellent effort.

- Staff not at all friendly, room was not serviced until asked at 6 in the evening. Late checkout requested, refused!! Very noisy traffic, day and night, next to intersection. Toiletry bag left behind, told it must have been thrown away. Paper cups in rooms. I visit Amsterdam about once a month and this has been the worst hotel I have stayed. Unlikely that I will stay in a Bastion hotel again, there is far better quality and value for money out there

- A nice place to stay but has some drawbacks
- If you are looking for out of the way places to rest in the seclusion of the forest and wooded areas this is a nice place.You will find serinity here. Everyone bikes all around and the bike paths are amazing and fantastic. It is 1.5 miles from the train station and 4 miles from a town that has a market and a few wonderful restaurants. All driving to these places is easy and BEAUTIFUL. It is far away from the city life and the drive to town is beautiful. We needed to leave every day in the morning before the breakfast area was open, so the staff made breakfast baskets for each of us that was very tastey and complete. Nice of them to do that for us. The staff was very helpful and friendly and they all spoke english. There were many problems and they went out of their way to try and fix what ever they could.
- There was limited parking and you had to park away from hotel and that was hard when you had luggage to bring in. Their food was expensive so you had to drive to the next town to get meals cheaper. But you can get to that market 4 miles away in Oosterbek. For the rooms-They tried to give us a room with a sewer problem and it smelled and the rug had a water stain on it from problems. But we declined and they gave us another room which was acceptable. There is no air conditioning but that is typical of Europe. You could open the windows but there were no screens so bugs could fly in. We did arrive at 9 a.m. and hoped that the room may be available. But it was not. So they said to com back at 2p.m. when they published rooms would be ready. The rooms were not ready at 2 p.m. and they said to wait 20 minutes. That came and went several times. So we had to wait until 3:30 to get in our rooms. We explained we only had one hour to get washed up and ready for a special banquet we had to go to. And that didn't move things along at all. Be prepared for a late arrival to get into your room to avoid that. Many of our friends had the same problem. We brought our dog. There wasn't really any place to take the dog to eliminate quickly. In the morning I had to take her out to this small strip of grass 6 inches wide on a road way across the street. That was it. Yes they have lovely grounds and place for the dogs to run but not easy to get to at all. And not easy to get the dog to when they have to go to the bathroom fast. My dog had to learn to go on the concrete, which she doesn't do.

- Beds were comfortable with a duvet rather than just a sheet and blanket. Staff were friendly and willing to help. There were some free parking spaces available.
- Nowhere to hang up towels in the bathroom. It was a bit annoying to find additional tax added onto the bill when we checked out - would have preferred to have this included at the beginning so that you can see the total price.

- We found the modern interior of our room very pleasing,comfortable and very clean .The bed was so comfortable I actually took the mattress cover off to see who it was made by so we could buy one ourselves It was lovely to have a hot shower -tepid is the norm here in England.The staff were helpful and polite.We found the food a little expensive but that was due to the poor exchange rate And finally my partner enjoyed some of the TV channels that we do nt get at home!

The baby cot we had requested was not in our room when we arrived, but upon seeing the baby, the staff member at reception ordered one immediately and it was promptly delivered. High chairs were also available in the breakfast restaurant. Breakfast was delicious. Room was quiet. Very clean and comfortable.

- The rooms were very disappointing compared to rest of the hotel. They were dark and unattractive and, although I understand it is a relatively new hotel, the carpets were already looking shabby and there were stains on the ceiling. There was no air conditioning, no mini bar, no fridge, no tea/coffee making facilities, no bath robes, the door locks were broken so we were unable to lock them from the inside. We phoned reception about the locks and someone came up and said he was aware that the locks were broken but didn't seem very bothered. A hotel so close to major roads should have air conditioning so windows can be kept shut. Also when we opened the windows there were very strong smells of sileage and within seconds the room was full of flies, so we had to close the windows. There were also flies in the restaurant when we had breakfast and whilst some of the food was covered not all of it was. Very off putting. We sat on the balcony to eat breakfast and the cleaners were working around us which was also off putting. When I expressed my disappointment to the reception staff on checking out, the man just said the facilities I mentioned were only available in luxury rooms. I pointed out that the price we paid was a "luxury room" price and I have stayed in other hotels in Holland and Belgium with all those facilities at half the price.

- A five minute walk from the Red Bus (300) from Schiphol -- easy if you don't drive. And that stop also takes you into Haarlem City Centre (must go).
- Beds uncomfortable, LOTS of noise all night (VERY thin ceilings and walls). More importantly, charged 10 Euros per night more than quoted, even though desk clerk had the lower rate on a paper in front of him (he said it was a 5 euro foreign tourist tax, which was not listed on my reservation or his sheet, and the other 5 he just had to charge me unless he could email his manager, and did I want to sit in the lobby and wait for the reply? With no other hotel to go to at 6 pm, I paid).

- We were not made aware at the time of booking that the hotel was being refurbished. We arrived quite tired and could not rest as there was drilling and banging. We hoped to eat in the hotel restaurant but there were builders in work clothes eating and as this was a speacial weekend for us it did not give the atmosphere that we needed. However the receptionist advised another place in Vlaardingen , which we enjoyed. I would have liked to have know that the hotel had builders working there when I booked.

- For me, for this trip, the hotel location was ideal since I arrived at Amsterdam Zuid 1,2 km away and had a morning visit 0,8 km from the hotel. Window opened.
- Bed too soft. I moved the mattress to the floor, but it was too large for the floor space. Wake up service on phone provided only in Dutch. Staff unable explain operation of this service. No "life" surrounding the hotel. Impossible to find a night meal except in the hotel restuarant. Hotel restuarant had limited menu and overworked staff. Its posh style was oh so superficial. One could say this for the hotel altogether.

- Located near RAI, near to station, metro and tram, so is easy to get to via public transport.
- At the moment the hotel is being refurbished. I would suggest not staying there until refurbishment is completed. Parking at hotel is very expensive €22 per night, or part of... I believe it is €4.50 per hour otherwise. Currently the restaurant and bar are combined inside one of the conference rooms, so there is no atmosphere, and it feels like a building site. What amazes me is that they are still charging full price for everything even though it is a mess. I will not be staying there again until the refurbishment is completed.

Mercure Amsterdam aan de Amstel lies on the southern outskirts of Amsterdam near the ring road A10. The hotel has secured parking, relaxation facilities and a world of tourist information.

- Vooral de ligging is een pluspunt:buiten de stad en toch vlot bereikbaar met het openbaar vervoer,ook de nabijheid van de Amstel en de groene omgeving zijn een niet te versmaden surplus na een dagje stappen in Amsterdam. Ontbijtbuffet was geweldig.Enorm aanbod en zeer smakelijk. Niet tegen staande deze grote pluspunten zal ik NOOIT nog boeken bij dit Mercure Hotel en waarschijnlijk ook niet in een ander Mercure hotel. Reden; Zie mijn commentaar bij de minpunten.
- Het hotel voldeed niet aan de verwachtingen omwille van volgende punten: -bij toekomst op kamer 1012 bleek er slechts één badjas en één paar slippers aanwezig te zijn. -Badhanddoeken,bekertje in de badkamer,enz... waren ook maar voor één persoon voorzien. -Op zondag 5 juli om 15u15 waren de bedden nog niet opgemaakt en ook de kamer was nog niet gereinigd.Gevolg:extra kosten aan de bar. -Na klacht,telefonisch en aan de balie is er direct iemand de kamer in orde gaan brengen. -Men zou ook een badjas en slippers voorzien voor de tweede persoon maar daar heb ik NIETS van gemerkt. Slotbedenking:WAS DEZE KAMER WEL VOORZIEN VOOR TWEE PERSONEN?De prijs was in ieder geval wel voor twee personen.
