“ The Van de Valk Tiel, is a hidden gem, I upgraded to a luxury superior king room for just 5 euro more on that evening, Front staff was pleasant and accommodating, it has a Grand lobby that sits right next to a cozy cafe, the room was extremely quiet as promised on the site, with the most amazing view, the bathroom was the highlight for me with a XL Tub and walk in shower. ” Mario Francis February 20, 2018

Surroundings

From the Van der Valk Hotel Tiel one can make bicycle and hiking trips in the beautiful surroundings, for instance through the foreland of the 'Waal' river. Another option is to visit the lake 'Betuwemeer Tiel' in the town of Kapel-Avezaath, which houses a large variety of water birds. In a historic building from 1789 in Tiel you can find the museum 'Flipje en Streekmuseum'. Visitors will learn about the region and about 'Flipje van Tiel', a well known cartoon mascot that represents the town.

Peaceful Luxurious

  • Room Service options at the night should be better very limited and you have to pick it up yourself in the lobby area, the air in the room was extremely dry despite how really cozy I felt, however cracking open the window a bit helped but the thermostat wasn t very effective or I just couldn t figure it out, Breakfast should end at 11 30am not 10 am or even 12 am, when you go away for a relaxed evening or weekend you are not trying to wake up before 10am because sleeping in later is the objective.
  • * my tip If you travel by train like I did, make sure to take a taxi outside of the station, taking a bus will leave you walking for 20mins, the same if you are leaving for the station again, I would recommend stopping at a supermarket for late night snacks and drinks if you are doing late check in so you dont have to worry about the limited options in the night, however some nights the skyy bar is open check the website.

  • + We found the location wonderful. Hotel was clean and rooms very comfortable.
  • The level of service at reception was very poor. No assistance in activities outside hotel. Rude remarks and attitude when asking questions and making requests. Staff in hotel was worst I have experienced anywhere. At lunch, dinner buffet we were unable to even receive our bill. We had to request Manager to find our Service. Breakfast buffet service was somewhat better. Assistance with taxis, airport travel, wake up calls was terrible. This was totally opposite of our experience aT Sir Albe

  • + The reception staff were warm and helpful, rooms were spacious and clean. The facilities, in particular restaurants were excellent value.
  • The cafe bar staff were slow and without personality, with an air of resentment in their approach to their job, which made me feel uncomfortable. Customer service skills were completely lacking with these people who, to a point ruined my stay. Urgent Customer Service training required

  • The room heating system left much to be desired, we never really got comfortable. The bathtub could have had a anti-slip mat and the dispenser in the shower was empty.
  • * my tip On October 12th we were going to enjoy a leisurely breakfast in your restaurant. We wanted to sit by the window, and the step down from the main area was very poorly indicated, so that I had a very bad fall, which resulted in a ride to the local hospital by ambulance for X-rays. Fortunately nothing was broken, however I still live with the bruises which I can assure are very painful.

  • Check-in: One of the worst check in experiences we've ever had. Unfriendly and would not let us into the room early without paying an extra 20 Euro charge. The hotel was mostly empty and they could have easily let us into a room a little early. The receptionist made no effort to try. Kept us waiting in the lobby right up till the 2 p.m. official check in time. Need to be sent to school to learn customer service. Breakfast charge: Price gouging an extra 10 euros per person for breakfast.

Typical hotel catering for business people.

  • Wifi was poor. Had to change rooms twice before getting a strong signal. Building work ongoing but not too much inconvenience.

  • + Good location near highway A15 and industrial places in Tiel, NL. Good breakfast choice of foods. Good dinners. Pricing meets the quality recieved.

Fairly good hotel, reasonable value for money
  • + Central location, Tiel is a nice town to visit (especially the 2nd weekend of September, because of all the activities).
  • Hotel is rather old, breakfast buffet has an unlogical layout (although quality is excellent). Due to this unlogical layout, a lot of people walking around, long queues which are not neccessary if the layout would be better.

  • + This hotel is located very conveniently for my visits to Holland and it is easy to get to given immediate access to the A15 freeway.
  • The rooms and hotel interior in general are quite worn and in need up renovations/upgrades. Although prices are not sky high, the value for what is provided is questionable.

  • There was no waterpressure in the shower. Filled in the complaints card saying what was wrong. Was told it was fixed. Next morning, still no waterpressure in the shower. Contacted reception who informed me that then they couldn't fix it in time. Had also been promised that there would be wireless internet in the room, there wasn't.
