Not meant for tourists

• + Good breakfast and a good hotel for people (busines people ) who attend a conference, seminar or the Jaarbeurs.
• – Not suitable for tourists. The douchecabine (60 cm x 60 cm) was a terrible poor experience for a 200 Euro per night hotel. Lots of noise because the highway is next to the hotel.
• * my tip If you like to sightsee Utrecht, look for a small boutique hotel in town.

Nice weekend

• + There is a very nice terrace in front, very cousy place to sit with friends. There are numerous acitivities in the hotel and around it.
• – No free internet. Staff could be more friendly and helpful.

Watch out for hidden extras

• + The hotel was clean and of a good quality.
• – The price quoted did not include breakfast which I only tried one day at a very expensive 24€ for a very average breakfast. Also not mentioned in the quoted price were local taxes - so my rate went up from 199€ to 257.39€ every day even though I only had breakfast once. The man on the front desk just shrugged his shoulders when I enquired at bill payment. I also thought that advertizing free internet withthe executive room was a joke as this turned out to be only 50 mins a day! The hotel was billed as being convenient for the IE 2010 conference at Jaarbeurs - yet it was a 60€ round trip by taxi. I will make sure that the conference organizers also hear about the above so they don't recommend this hotel for conferences in future

Pleasant hotel

• + Clean, large rooms and bathrooms. Huge carpark, relatively quiet location but easily reached. We only payed 80 euros through this website, while the prices listed at reception were over 300 euros.
• – Kitchy decor.

Great Comfort Affordable Price

• + Got a very low online last minute price. Very comfortable room king size bed mini bar iron etc. Breakfast was excellent vast selection of hot and cold food Good Value if you can book at a discount price
• – No outside seating on the balcony weather was very hot and the only out door seats were in the bar area where we paid just under 13 euro for 2 large beers needless to say you could not afford to sit there for any length of time. Although we did not try the restuarent in the evening the prices seemed expensive at around 25 euro just for the main course.At the present time with the pound alsmost 1 for 1 against the euro it seemed expensive

• – Reception was not pleased by showing Hotels.nl booking. Very NON-service-minded girl on reception during check-in.

A great option at a good price. Great Breakfast.

• + Great price. Comfortable. Clean rooms. Superb breakfast included. If you want something right off the motorway, this is it. Its a bit of a drive into Amsterdam, but very close to Utrecht. Friendly staff too.

One of the best hotels In the Netherlands I have stayed in a lot

• + Booked a last minute deal inclusive of breakfast great price.Room was clean and had every comfort,mini bar iron hairdryer 2 very comfy armchairs,balcony and the biggest most comfortable bed we have ever encountered in a hotel super king size at least very impressed. The breakfast buffet was very extensive and all very fresh plenty of choice both hot and cold Would definately use again and recommend to others
• – Our room was right on the highway so was very noisy maybe because it was a last minute deal? For the price we paid it was OK but at full price I would not have been too happy.Dinner was expensive around E25-E30 per person due mainly to the exchange rate of the £ although we chose not to eat at the hotel so cannot comment on wether it was value for money

Excellent beds,breakfasts, quiet location, bar and lounge a bit

• + Excellent comfortable beds,when reception realised that we were a couple she immediately offered us a different grade of room as it had a king-size bed, Breakfast buffet was really excellent with hot and cold food, but very expensive at 20 euros each with a captive audience as no alternatives nearby, Whirpool fits 20 people and good sauna and steam room but the decor needs some attention and no safe lockers downstairs,but a great use of available space and a real treat after 8 hrs driving to relax down there pre-dinner. And we enjoyed a game of pool after dinner we will definitely stay again
• – Bathrooms were tiny but with a small bath included and good strong shower, masses of towels provided and very well cleaned. maybe they need to think double walk in showers when they refurbish. You need to be aware of the location when booking as it is not within walking distance of any large town or city and is very close to the motorway which suited our plans with a car perfectly. It is really a conference hotel which can cause queues in reception and I found it annoying that when a phone call came in the receptionists stop looking after you to deal with calls, I think calls should be directed to an inner office.

Brief overview of my 5 nights at the Carlton President Utrecht

• + Reasonably comfortable hotel with the basic amenities. Breakfast was good. Nice bar. Easy to use and accessible (though small) business center.
• – - scuffed walls - though my room was non-smoking it appears to have once been

good experience

• + Friendly stuff, good service, nice sauna, bright room
• – Noise at night - some people talking loud at smoking area (entrance of hotel).

Excellent hotel; special rate but without breakfast

Great Hotel, Great Value, Friendly Staff

• – Outside of the Center of Utrecht, not many activities in the area

Best in Utrecht so far

• + The first dutch hotel where staff have understood the need for good customer service. The Park Plaza and NH group should take note, a smile and a greeting cost nothing.
• – Food seems expensive, but the exchange rate is poor.Easy to miss the turn off but nothing major.

Very nice!

• + The breakfast and the facilities of the hotel are excellent. There is also free Internet point and solarium. Great!

Pleasant stay

• + We had everything we needed. We could have tea, coffie ect.. The room looked nice, the bathroom as well. And I like the fact that all rooms have airconditioning.

• + overall comfort, price, parking allowance and front desk service was excellent. i liked the free use of internet in the business center, too.
• – a bit far from town, but the bus system was very good. overall, i'd say this place was a better value than the other hotel we chose in Maastricht.
