Description
Hotel De l'Empereur lies in the pedestrian area in the centre of Valkenburg. This is a cosy town with many outdoor terraces, nice shops and restaurants and the well-known marl caves. The 3-star hotel has been in the hands of the same family for many decades. They do their utmost to make guests feel at home. Hotel de l'Empereur is one of the oldest hotels in Valkenburg; the first notification dates back to the 15th century. The hotel was then called Den Rooden Leeuw inn. The name was changed into l'Empereur after emperor Napoleon visited the hotel.
The comfortable hotel rooms are divided over 2 floors. You can choose between a room with a shower, bath or whirlpool. Directly behind the hotel there is a closed-off parking area. In the attractive grand café you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a good glass of wine. The hotel also has a romantic restaurant with a fireplace and a heated terrace at the front.
Food and Drinks
The breakfast buffet is available from 08:00 to 10:00 h. On request it is also possible to have breakfast at 07:00 h.
In the stylishly decorated Grand Cafe Joli Coeur guests can have lunch, a nice cup of coffee or a beer. In the romantic à la carte restaurant La Mangerie you can order one of the specialties from the French cuisine. On sunny days, guests can have lunch or dinner on the terrace at the front. The kitchen is generally open from 12:00 until 21:00 h. (until 20:00 h. on week days in winter).

Guests can make free use of wireless internet. Downstairs in the lobby there is a guest computer with an internet connection.
Other information
- The hotel does not have a 24-hour reception. Guests can check in until 23:00 h. If you would like to check in later, you need to contact the reception in advance.
- An additional bed can be placed on request for €45 a night. This is only possible in the spacious room or in the double room with jacuzzi.
- The hotel does not offer special rooms for guests with a disability.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Luggage can be stored at the hotel (on request).
Surroundings
Hotel de l'Empereur Valkenburg is a perfect starting point for many beautiful trips. You can make a nice walk or cycling tour in the hilly landscape of Limburg, along picturesque villages, castles and monumental farmhouses. At the hotel there are routes available. You are also recommended to spend a day at the spa Thermae 2000, or pay a visit to Maastricht, Aachen in Germany or Liège in Belgium.
