Nice hotel - but formal
Nice room. Nice breakfast.
Rather formal atmosphere in the restaurant for dinner. Not made to feel welcome to start with - our name wasn't on the guest list! rnThe lake is beautiful but why not clean up the fallen trees.

Best value in Holland!!
The Super Special on Friday and Saturdaynights are the cheapest in Holland as this includes breakfast in a 4 star hotel.
Many of the wait staff did not want to be at the hotel. The Reception staff were the only ones that were very helpful.

Best dinner I have ever had
On this visit I took my daughter and husband and their two grandchildren (11 and 14)to visit the village where my brother was killed in its 1944 liberation. Stunning presentation, location, and ambience. All can be summed up in the words of my 14 yr old granddaughter, "the best dinner I have ever had".
Absolutely none.

looks great on website, in reality was very disappointing.
useful for stopovers as close to motorway and has parking. Pleasant scenery at rear. Swimming pool.
The rooms were very disappointing compared to rest of the hotel. They were dark and unattractive and, although I understand it is a relatively new hotel, the carpets were already looking shabby and there were stains on the ceiling. There was no air conditioning, no mini bar, no fridge, no tea/coffee making facilities, no bath robes, the door locks were broken so we were unable to lock them from the inside. We phoned reception about the locks and someone came up and said he was aware that the locks were broken but didn't seem very bothered. A hotel so close to major roads should have air conditioning so windows can be kept shut. Also when we opened the windows there were very strong smells of sileage and within seconds the room was full of flies, so we had to close the windows. There were also flies in the restaurant when we had breakfast and whilst some of the food was covered not all of it was. Very off putting. We sat on the balcony to eat breakfast and the cleaners were working around us which was also off putting. When I expressed my disappointment to the reception staff on checking out, the man just said the facilities I mentioned were only available in luxury rooms. I pointed out that the price we paid was a "luxury room" price and I have stayed in other hotels in Holland and Belgium with all those facilities at half the price.

Stylish hotel that doesn't quite live up to expectations.
We had a lovely room and the food was fabulous. The château is in a lovely setting which has been beautifully restored and modernised.
On arrival there was a dirty wine glass in the room and one of the bedside lights did not work. This was not rectified during our stay. When we returned on the second day towels had not been refolded, dirty glasses were left by the bed and a dead wasp remained on the windowsill. We raised these points on leaving and were informed the manager would contact us - 4 days later I am still waiting. After spending over 500 Euros on a two night break I expect better.

Value for money
Good clean hotel with plenty of parking facileties nearbij Venlo and Venray. Excellent breakfast buffet. Reduced price ok but the regular price is to high.
In the first way the room price was € 12 more than the booking price. I can't say that it was on purpose and they made an inmidiate correction when I complained.

A great romantic getaway but not worth a tourists time.
The food at the restaurant was absolutely awesome. Do eat both dinner and breakfast here. It is worth the time and money. At dinner the chef came out and explained the 4 course meal. The atmosphere was wonderful and the wait staff friendly. The room we stayed in had a wonderful view over the pond with ducks & a swan. There was a beautiful walking trail and a small museum adjacent (all in Dutch).
The main building was built around 1300's (I think) but the rooms were built in the last century. It was more of a chateau than a castle. We came by train which was a little difficult since Tegelen is not on a main line (but not bad). It was about a 20 min walk from the train station but there were lots of signs pointing the way. We saw no taxis. The hotel did order us a taxi to return to the train station (about $12 - E8). Overall it was something nice to do once but I do not see ourselves doing it again or even recomending it to other just visiting Europe. It was not worth the little bit of time we had in the area. If you live in the area and want a nice romatic getaway I would recommend it.
