Good hotel with great service
  • + Location, very helpful and friendly staff, excellent room and spa facilities, excellent buffet breakfast. No charge for overnight parking
  • Housekeeping on the third day of our stay was very poor. The evening menu in the restaurant was in my view very limited and we considered overpriced for the food and portion size. Some occasional noise from a nearby railway level crossing and rail traffic, but not overly intrusive and the lakeside setting makes up for this.
  • * my tip Book an executive room which are very well appointed.

What is wrong with Bilderberg?
  • + A nice place at a nice location
  • The receptionist just was unpleasant. She had an attitude. Problems with getting internet on my Laptop. NO CNN on the TV in the room on the night of the US Elections. The restaurant chef thinks the world of himself but the dinner (5 people) that he produced was mediocre in quality . Had a poor experience at another Bilderberg hotel in Venlo-Tegelen last year. Complained directly to Bilderberg but they don't seem to care.

Overall a nice hotel
  • + Nette kamer, schoon. Goed zwembad.

An excellent and memorable experience
  • + Very comfortable. Staff very helpful and knowledgable
  • (Older couples)
Good value, comfotable, quiet hotel with excellent restaurant
  • + Comfortable, Quiet, location good once we found the hotel, service excellent in particular restaurant staff, food great
  • Difficulty in locating hotel, could be better with tea & coffee making facilities in room.
  • * my tip Download Map of area to get exact location of hotel from the Venlo main station, once we found the correct location there was no problem.
  • (Other)
a very pleasant and confortable stay

Wonderful setting, wonderful staff
  • + We thought the staff were wonderful, each person who dealt with us could not have been more helpful, particular Brenda who went out of her way to enable us to get replacement medication, the original of which was stolen after our car was broken into in Belgium on our way to the hotel. We can't praise the staff highly enough for all they did for us. Our room was very comfortable and we loved the fact that we could eat both breakfast and dinner on the terrace looking at the ducks and swan on th
  • The only, very small, negative for me is that I would have liked a slightly larger menu choice on both the a la carte and the bar menu and we do like our vegetables so more greens would have been good but I do realise that this comment is a very English view.
  • * my tip Just enjoy the experience, it was calming and peaceful and we loved it.
  • (Older couples)
A flawed four star.
  • + Excellent location. Room very comfortable though the shower over the bath arrangement could be improved upon.
  • Restaurant service not brilliant, "extra bread" never arrived, running out of cutlery at breakfast, little things but irritating. Dinner menu and wine list we felt were limited, and not such good value, and a bottle of Montepulciano at Euro 37.50 is too much.
  • * my tip Dine in the centre of Venlo. We found an excellent small restaurant serving a good choice of good food (with four large glasses of decent wine at euro 14). The overall cost was less than 60% of hotel dinner. For a taxi call Nick for a ride in his Tuk Tuk!!

Quiet, friendly, haven in the woods
  • + Beautiful location. Enjoyed walking in the woods more than Floriade (which was rather short of flowers!) Caught a deer by surprise - lovely photo in the middle of a clearing. So nice being serenaded by bird song once we woke in the morning. Lovely view across the lake from the restaurant. Reception were very helpful with printing e-tickets for the show and for the flight. Tasty meal, beautifully served on the first night. Breakfast was reasonably varied and tasty.
  • Poor menu selection. One meal was too salty. A little expensive, especially 3E for hot water for my own teabag but I did get chocolates with it, so not all bad.
  • * my tip Floriade was not worth it - RHS shows in England are much better for keen gardeners. There is a small swimming pool (saw no mention on the web page) so don't forget your costume. Good place to take a bicycle as there are lots of cycle paths through the woods.
  • (Older couples)
Best Location to stay during Floriade
  • + Beautiful location and food, helpfull staff.
  • (Older couples)
Best place we stayed for the price.
  • + Best place we stayed. They rent bikes so you can bike to Floriade 2012. Breakfast included in the price is ,not only great, but value added.
  • None
  • * my tip Great nature walks around the hotel and easy access to the bike paths
  • (Older couples)
you will feel very relaxed at this hotel
  • + Very nice place and all the staff where very helpful. Nice walk though the woods ,love the lake and the fish;-)
  • (Older couples)
A little bit of rural paradise near Venlo city centre.
  • + Beautiful location. Good food and service. What would make it even better would be if bicycles could be hired from the hotel for those people who can't bring their own. Walking trails nearby were recommended by family in the area, Could these be advised by the hotel staff?
  • Bed was a bit too soft for us and the water pressure in the shower could have been a bit better. But these are very minor points in what was a lovely break in Holland.

Wonderful weekend in the middle of nature

A perfect place to stay
  • + This hotel is in the perfect location for a holiday, short break or overnight stay. All of the staff were friendly and attentive. Our room was large, comfortable and well equipped. The restaurant overlooking the lake served excellent food - a very pleasant experience.

  • + Nice location but difficult to reach without car, wellness included in price, very quiet
  • Without car you cannot reach the hotel or visit city centre

Relaxing retreat in Venlo
  • + Very quiet, nice location, breakfast
  • Difficult to reach without car, sauna needs to upgrade on 4* hotel
  • (Older couples)
Nice hotel - but formal
  • + Nice room. Nice breakfast.
  • Rather formal atmosphere in the restaurant for dinner. Not made to feel welcome to start with - our name wasn\'t on the guest list! rnThe lake is beautiful but why not clean up the fallen trees.
  • (Travelling alone)
Sunday night stay
  • + Newly re-furbished room and bathroom. New bed linen.Good service at check in and check out. Good rate for Sunday evening
  • Only cold buffet breakfast available.
  • (Families with young children)
  • + quiet, nice,
  • no free internet...parking under trees.
  • (Families with older children)
  • + all good
  • no bad points
  • (Friends)
  • + Beautiful location, great if you love exploring outdoors. Lunch by the lake watching the fish is a relaxing experience.
  • Difficult to find, signage in town could be improved.
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Facilitys, garden, pool, wellness center.
  • Breakfast must be include to hotell room price. Internet connection to quests free.
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Late nite dinner available
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Lovely rooms, beautifully decorated
  • over expensive menu
  • (Friends)
  • + Nice hotel, nice staff, nice food, nice surroundings
  • You have drawn the money from my Visacard two times! So I had to have help from the Danish PBS (Payment Business Service) to get some of my money back again.
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Location
  • Hotel in the course of refurbishment (was mentioned on the internetsite) no smoking room (none available at all times) nor king size bed although asked for during reservation
  • (Older couples)
  • + Beautiful surroundings. Attractive room. Very comfortable bed.
  • Unable to escape smoke in the bar. To make the room cool at night meant opening the window which meant a little bit of noise.
