Description
The doors of Hotel Resort Landgoed Westerlee were opened in the middle of August 2008. The conversion of the former grange was finally completed, and guests have been very welcome ever since. This beautiful listed monument dates back to 1910. Under the characteristic beams, the former barn houses delightfully decorated rooms, each with their own style. All rooms have a king-size bed, flatscreen television, wireless telephone, free WiFi, radio, minibar and safe. Naturally, the rooms also come with a luxurious bathroom including a double jacuzzi. The view from the rooms is simply splendid. Some rooms even have their own, private roof terrace.
The old barn now features a wonderful sauna. As well as this, the Sous la Rheine spa centre has much more in store for a relaxing stay: various types of massages, Shiatsu, Hot Stone massage, classic massage and a full beauty treatment with pedicure and manicure. There is also a heated outdoor pool and a sunbathing area. Guests may make free use of the sauna and swimming pool.
Another special feature at this rural address is the à la carte restaurant, with food and an atmosphere which will certainly please true gastronomers. Outside is a garden house, which functions as a regional shop, and there are many terraces where you can relax. Right next to the hotel and restaurant terrace is a large orchard with a hundred fruit trees of old Groningen varieties. Those wishing to enjoy a stroll can visit the park with its winding paths.
Food and Drinks
Breakfast is served from 07:00 - 11:00. Enjoy a tasty lunch in the restaurant from noon - 14:00. This is a popular stopping place for walkers and cyclists.
Restaurant 't Heerehuys is housed in the portal of the old farm house. In these Art Nouveau rooms you can enjoy the gastronomical arts of the chef and his team. The kitchen daily conjures up fantastic French/Mediterranean dishes, prepared using only fresh, seasonal, local produce. The restaurant is open from 18:30 - 21:30. Weather permitting, you can also dine 'al fresco' on the outdoor terrace between the old fruit trees. The hotel bar is open from 07:00 - midnight.

In actual fact, guests don't want to leave the lovely estate of Hotel Resort Landgoed Westerlee, but there are plenty of things to experience in the area. Oldambt is an old Groningen area with endless views extending all the way to the mudflats. Mudflat walking is a highly recommended and unique experience. City pleasures can be found in the old city of Groningen, with its famous Martini Tower, many cafés, restaurants and shops around the large market square. The famous Groninger Museum is a favourite amongst art lovers.
