Description
Hotel Duhoux has been a welcoming haven for all sorts of travelers since 1916. The beautiful historical building of the hotel is located right in the center of Wirdum. Inside it's warm and friendly, the pub is a popular place for guests and residents of the village. Downstairs and upstairs are the beautiful contemporary rooms, modernly decorated and with lovely beds. Each room has a shower, toilet, air conditioning, telephone and television. There is also a desk with chair.
The cozy atmosphere of Wirdum and the personal attention of the hotel owners ensure that the guests feel at home quickly. In Wirdum you can makee a nice walk and visit the St. Martin church. This church was built around 1200 and used to have two towers. A tower was demolished in 1688 and sold to the cement factory in Makkum. Since then, the Wirdumers have been bearing the nickname Tuorkefretters (Tower Grubbers).
Food and Drinks
Breakfast is served Monday through Friday between 06:00 and 10:00 h., on weekends you can have breakfast between 08:00 and 10:00 h.
The very cozy brown café is open daily from 11:00 until 01:00 h. For billiards fans there is good news, there is a billiards table. In the same cafe lunch and dinner is served as well. The kitchen is open between 12:00 and 20:30 h. There is a monthly changing menu with 2 different menu choices and a good wine suggestion. You can also choose from several delicious à la carte dishes.

In the hotel guests can use wireless Internet at an additional charge through KPN HotSpots.
Other information
- The hotel does not have a 24-hour reception. Guests can check in until 18:00 h.
- An additional bed can be placed in the room on request for €30 a night.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Luggage can be stored at the hotel.
- From October to April Hotel Duhoux is closed on Sunday.
Surroundings
Wirdum is a terp village from the early Middle Ages and has always had good water connections to all directions. Canoeing near Wirdum through the scenic beauty is is certainly a must. A special outing is a trip to one of the Frisian Islands. From Harlingen you can take the ferry to Vlieland, Terschelling or Ameland. In the nearby Leeuwarden there's plenty to do, for instance visiting the Jopie Huisman Museum, but also the shopping and the nightlife are good.
