Bed and Breakfast Welgelegen Workum with its amiable atmosphere is housed in a traditional Dutch farmhouse built in the shape of a cheese-cover. It's ideal for families and people who love to be outdoors because of the many outdoor activities that can be undertaken such as walking, cycling, surfing, kite surfing and skating. Here you can enjoy the panoramic view, undisturbed. In Welgelegen the staff gladly assists you to make your stay a lovely one, but also to inform you about typical Frysian sports such as fierljeppen (pole jumping over ditches) and skutsjesilen (sailing in special shallow-draught Frisian boats), but also about archery, fishing or about the many walking, canoeing and cycling routes.
Guests have their own entrance to the floor where the guestrooms are situated. The shared toilets and shower lie next to the rooms on the same floor. The attractively decorated rooms offer a nice view. The breakfast room at the front of the house is used a a relaxing room during the day and evening, but you can also relax in the garden an on the terrace.

The breakfast buffet is served in the former box bed in the breakfast room. between 08:30 and 10:30h. The breakfast includes slices of bread, coffee and/or tea and a glass of milk.

The famous Elfstedentocht, a skating marathon in Fryslan, leads along the 11 cities of Fryslan. The 200 kilometer journey starts and ends in the capital of the province, Leeuwarden. Before Workum it runs through Sneek with its famous water gate, IJlst, Sloten, Stavoren and Hindeloopen and after Workum Bolsward, Harlingen, Franeker and Dokkum.
