Zutphen with its striking towers and stately townhouses is simply stunning when viewed from the riverbank. The city's riches, accumulated in the 14th and 15th centuries during the Hanseatic period is still reflected in Zutphen's beautiful buildings. The St. Walburgis church and the Berkelpoort are located in the city centre, the latter of which is part of the city wall. The countryside surrounding Zutphen is also lovely. You can hire a bike at reception and discover the area's castles and scenic beauty.

Food & Drink

An extensive breakfast buffet is served daily at the hotel from 07:00 until 10:00, in the Serre Restaurant. Brasserie 6 is situated in one of the wings; a lovely meeting place with a bright, young vibe. The kitchen offers contemporary seasonal dishes. The tapas bar Caramba! is situated downstairs in the vaults and serves Spanish tapas dishes with a regional Dutch twist.

Ample room for improvement
  • + Nice location, good restaurant, friendly service
  • Room was very hot 35 degrees ,with no AC just a fan. Bathroom was very inadequate , bathroom completely wet after taking a shower.
  • * my tip On hot days like this do not put people on this side of the hotel, remember you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Or better still install AC or put at least shades at the outside of these windows.

Beautiful centrally located hotel
  • + Centrally located - beautiful hotel - clean - friendly and effecient service staff
  • Nothing negative to say....
  • (Travelling alone)
Value for money
  • + Great food
  • (Older couples)
  • + very quite, but central, price/quality good
  • building inside needs a bit of tlc!!!
  • (Travelling alone)
Central location - but rooms small, no air conditioning.
  • + Good central location, nice historical building.
  • Rooms are small, with no air conditioning - a fan was provided but I only found it on the second night. Rather impersonal - although reception staff helpful. No details provided of hotel facilities. Shower wasn't powerful enough to wash soap/gel off. Water from shower runs through to rest of bathroom. Breakfast on Saturdays doesn't start until 8.00 a.m. making it difficult to make an early departure.

  • The room was clean, but there were some old stains on the carpet and in the bathroom there were many stains from chalk. Even though it was clean, it didn't look clean. I booked for my dog (and paid for it), but I was not allowed to take it in the (almost empty) restaurant.

Hampshire Hotel, Zutphen, Netherlands
  • + As above perfect. Staff excellent. Food very good. No hesitation to recommend your hotel to family and friends.
  • None.
  • * my tip Use hotel parking. You pay approx 12.50 euro per day, but well worth it for peace of mind.Hampshie Hotel Zutphen
  • (Young couples)
Nice location with low quality rooms.
  • + friendly receptionist and breakfast is above average.(although only scrambled eggs)
  • very small room, not clean, small silly beds, very noisy rooms, no soap shampoo and other toiletery. Absolutely no 4* hotel
  • * my tip Take ample time and check your room first. The location is nice and the front part of the building is monumental.
  • (Travelling alone)
Good place for a quiet break
  • + Good location in centre of old town, friendly atmosphere, very pleasant, helpful staff, food very good.
  • Decor in bedroom showing signs of wear and tear
  • (Travelling alone)
Exceeded my expectations
  • + Nice hotel in a nice town. Simple room, but OK. Receptionist (Melonie) was excellent
  • No shower gel! light flickers in bathroom.
  • (Travelling alone)
Good value, excellent location
  • + Friendly staff; good breakfast buffet.
  • Room a bit dusty. Couldn't get BBC1 on tv.
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Freundliches Personal , Schönes Haus ,
  • Keine Minibar , Keine Beschriftung für Deutsche Gäste.
  • (Travelling alone)
Well situated, good breakfast buffet, poor facilities for the disabled
  • + Situated just a short walk from the centre of Zutphen in a very pretty setting. Staff helpful. Breakfast buffet was good, if a little expensive.
  • I was given, for some unknown reason, a room for a disabled person. The bathroom fittings were extremely poor and showing clear signs of rust. The toilet pan was far too high. Given that the bathroom was adapted it is surprising to note that the bed was extremely low which would have made transfers very difficult if I had mobility problems (I am an occupational therapist (OT) trained to assess such environments, I would strongly recommend that the hotel seeks the advice of a local OT on this matter plus accessibility). I was forced to vacate my room at 9.30am by the housekeepers, which did not please me.
  • (Older couples)
Not 4 star
  • + Located in a nice part of town and next door to a good brasserie.
  • The bedroom was more 2 star than 4 star. It was small, very dated, tiny bed, some advertised functionality wasn't in good order e.g hair drier. There was a bulb not working in the bedroom and the toilet bowl was not entirely clean. The breakfast was also expensive.

Prima hotel voor een goede prijs op een schitterende locatie
  • + ligging, vooraanzicht, uitstraling, ontbijt
  • (Young couples)
Quiet and correct
  • (Travelling alone)
Friendly hotel with all comfort offered
  • (Older couples)
Nice hotel but in need a good housekeeper
  • + Lovely building and very friendly service.
  • Both soap containers in the bathroom were empty. Safe in the room was open but in lock position so impossible to use.

Nice city hotel
  • (Travelling alone)
A great base for a visit to Zutphen
  • + Friendly staff, efficient and quiet. Room really comfortable. Breakfast buffet excellent.
  • None! Would stay here on every visit to Zutphen.
  • (Travelling alone)
excellent value and perfect location
  • (Travelling alone)
Convenient and comfortable
  • + Comfortable bed, clean bathroom
  • Room too hot, and lacks ventilation as window can only be opened a few centimetres.
  • (Travelling alone)
Excellent value, great accomodation
  • + Although I booked a minimum price room, they very kindly gave me their magnificent "Royal Suite".
  • (Friends)
nice hotel
  • + good service and cozy facility
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Free internet, perfect location, very good breakfast.I would say it's a hotel of 3 stars level, but not 4, as it's stated. But still this is the best option to stay in Zutphen.
  • I'm very strict in cleaning, and I noticed shelves and desks in the room were covered with a dust. From another side, I have never seen a hotel yet which satisfy my requirements in cleaning (regularly it's the same slight cover of dust). So it's may be ok for the most of people.
  • (Friends)
  • + excellent facilities for the price. Very Clean.
  • Small rooms & bathroom
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + The hotel is in a beautiful building, combining old and new in an interesting way. It is situated in a very quiet part of town. A big plus is the complimentary WiFi.
  • All over the hotel and in the rooms are notices that the restaurant closes at 10 pm. This was not the case when I stayed there. I returned from a concert in the church opposite at 9:20 and was told the kitchen was closed and therefore room service was also no longer available. Because of the warm weather the bar (for a few barsnacks instead of dinner) had also been closed and operated in the courtyard (which was still full with diners.....??) This was a BIG minus point.
  • (Older couples)
