Hotel
Hotel Atlanta has a magnificent view of the lively 'Rembrandtplein' which functioned as a meeting place for entertainers, artists and journalists in the 19th century. The square owes its name to the statue of Rembrandt that was erected by a group of artists in 1844. Over the years, the square developed into a centre of popular amusement. The many restaurants, bars and terraces bring about a vibrant atmosphere in summertime.
The renowned Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan, famous for his abstract art, had his studio on the attic of this establishment from 1904 to 1907. This space is now turned into room 33 of the hotel, the so called 'Mondriaan room'. Art lovers will greatly enjoy their stay here. Replicas of the art of the famous painter can be admired throughout the hotel as well.
The hotel provides several room types that are all equipped with a television, minibar, hair dryer, safe and coffee and tea making facilities. Most rooms have a private bathroom with a shower or bath and a toilet.
Surroundings
Because of the very central location of the 'Rembrandtplein', there are countless possibilities to explore the city. How about a cruise through the canals or a visit to the flower market? And if you like to shop, you can enjoy yourself in the 'Kalverstraat' or Magna Plaza.
Food and Drink
The cosy breakfast room is on the second floor and has a magnificent view of the 'Rembrandtplein'. You can enjoy the continental breakfast buffet here from 07:00 until 10:00 h.

Great hotel and place
Didn't know about the night club on the PLEIN and didn't get much sleep because that night club was going all night.
“My tip: Check out the night club routine.”

Very nice people in the reception.
The price per night we found a "ripp off" for what we got (indeed it was a extra priced weekend because of some big conference); we had to share toilet and bathroom with other guests on the floor. One of the two evenings we stayed at the hotel the toilet on the floor was broken and the next morning as well. The freaser in our room was also broken and the TV screen was so bad that it was not usable. Our room went towards Rembrantsplein and the noice was very loud al

Excellent location at an affordable price (I booked online for $70/night). I can't complain about the noise because I am a deep sleeper and you can't expect much quiet in Rembrandtplein in spring.
When I checked the bed for bed bugs I noticed that the pillow and mattress were very, very old and stained. The mattress wasn't very comfortable and should be burned and replaced with a new one. The hotel has very steep stairs but that didn't bother me (and I stayed at the very top). The carpet is old and a bit dingy but that isn't a problem. The shared bathroom and weird sink in my room were minus points. I couldn't wash my face in my room without splashing water all over the place

Great location, friendly crew
No elevator, small rooms
Travelling alone september 2011
Excellently located. Right on Rembrandtplein, beside Tram station, Tram 9 or 16 takes you just about anywhere in the city. TIP: Get Connexxion Hotel Bus Shuttle (â¬7.50 return) from Schipol right to Rembrantplein. Only a 2 minute walk to hotel! Best choice.
Be under no illusions - Hotel is inaccessable to people of reduced mobility. There are NO lift/elevators, and you need to be fit to walk the small stairs up to the different floors. Beds can be quite small - ask for a double bed room upgrade, as the singles can be quite small.

Great location and really excellent people working there, interesting, kind and helpful. Mondrian used to work there!
It's really noisy due to the square but even so that's not really a problem unless you're a really light sleeper.

Price, very clean, friendly and has many of the modern good conveniences such as a safe in room, mini-bar, cable-tv etc, good location.
Lots of stairs, (but good workout and did have a 3rd floor roof deck!) Only European breakfast available, (meat cheese coffee, but at least its there if you want it!)

Great position in Rembrandtplein with lots happening. Good transport links and still walking distance to everywhere. Good service and our room was clean and tidy. We will definately be staying there again for a similar style break. There were no other noisy guests or anything so this is not a problem. Speaking to other people in Dam we heard some real horror stories about dodgy hotels they were staying in, the general feeling is that most of them are absolute dives so we were pleased we did our research and found the Atlanta. All in all we were happy.
Noisy area so not recommended for a quiet trip. For us this wasnt a problem as we weren't getting in till breakfast time each night, however there are lots of bars and clubs in this area and if you have a room facing the square it could be very noisy until the early hours.

3 steep flight of stairs to bedroom no lift and no one to carry luggage. First room we were given smelt of drains so we asked to move. Very noisy in the square all night

cheap, had our own bathroom, smoke on roof
not entirely nice, really loud music outside, extremely steep stairs, would not give us the weekday rate on our 7th day, charged us higher price for our last night... thought that was weak.

Hygiene is definitely something to work on...

assez bien placée dans le centre ville d'Amsterdam
vraiment pas top : chambre petite, bruyante, SdB mal ou peu nettoyée. Au même prix, on a beaucoup mieux sur Amsterdam !

Location is very central. The staff were helpful.
the rooms were dirty, the layout was poor and the showers and toilets shared. I was asked to pay cash up front or face another 3% charge. This is a very expensive hostel and not a hotel.

Staff was friendly and VERY helpful! We checked in after touring the city for the day, wish we would have checked in first because they had VERY helpful advice that would have been useful. When we go back we will be staying here as well as telling others! We also felt safe comapred to other places we have stayed!
No parking, and the stairs are steep, but the stairs are those of authentic amsterdam houses so really can not complain! We have stayed in several european hotels and this one is one of our favorites!
