Hotel
Music and theatre are key features in BackStage Hotel Amsterdam. This contemporary design concept has an ideal central location in Amsterdam. The iPod docking station and the drum kit seat in the hotel rooms and music posters of celebrities on the walls, are just some of the elements that will make you feel like a pop star during your stay. In the hotel bar guests can have a drink and play a game of pool billiards. This area also has a free Internet terminal.
The venues Melkweg and Paradiso and the Leidseplein square are practically around the corner. In the hotel's direct vicinity there is a wide array of restaurants and enjoyable bars and you can also easily reach the 'Museumplein' on foot. This square is surrounded by the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum.
Surroundings
BackStage Hotel Amsterdam is located near the Melkweg and Paradiso, two venues that bands often include in their tour schedule. At night, the fun cafés and clubs on the Leidseplein square always attract quite a crowd. During the day you can choose from a wide array of activities in the hotel's surroundings. The Vondelpark for instance is perfect for a stroll. Those who would like to go on a shopping spree can walk along the streets Leidsestraat and Kalverstraat or visit the boutiques of the '9 straatjes'.

In the hotel a breakfast buffet is available from 07:00 until 10:00. The bar is open after breakfast until 01:00. In the vicinity there is an abundance of cafés and restaurants. The Leidseplein square is particularly known for its vibrant nightlife.

Excellent location; Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast and clean new ensuite bathrooms.
A challenging staircase but once the luggage is up it is part of the real Amsterdam experience.
“My tip: Travel light because of the staircase; Easy access by tram - Trams 1,2 & 5 from the Central Station & get off at Leidseplein; Tram 7 & 10 stop almost in front at Raamplein. Great value breakfast!”

In such a great location for bars and restaurants. Only 15 mins walk (and a really pretty walk) to the Red Light District. Had the comfiest bed I have ever slept in and our room was cleaned daily. Friendly staff and a great little bar. Cool decor in rooms.

Great location! Fun rock n roll theme. Nice staff...
Very loud street noise. People walking home drunk and REALLY loud from bars or wherever all nite long on street out front. No A/C so couldn't shut window to keep out noise.

What a great hotel! The guys who work here are so nice and helpful, the room (Jagermeister room) was first rate and very clean and the hotel is just five minutes away from the Paradiso, which was great for us. I would 100% stay a here again.

Personel is extremely kindly and helpful, atmosphere is very nice, breakfast: price/quality relation is very good
low hygiene ranking is because of the bathroom: mould-infested, rinsing reservoir of toilet was leaky, floor of bathroom not cleaned for days; no towels - thought it wasn't incl. due to the low price and didn't ask at the reception; but got some at the last day of stay - should have asked ;-)

The hotel was in the perfect area - close to the centre but not right in the centre. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Everything you need for a getaway to Amsterdam.
The room was very small. This is fine for a short stay (4 days or less) but may cause problems for someone with more luggage

Really comfortable, friendly staff, cool design, pretty location. Had a really great short break here.

nice friendly staff with relaxed attitude made ourselves at home straight away. loved the theme of hotel just like a we rock venue.good breakfast selection good bar.
only thing I would say is stairs are a challenge after a few shandy's!!!

Great stay at this Hotel. Very Friendly staff and a good budget price. Very close to a buzzing square with many food, coffeeshops and pubs. Lots of Live music and shows around this area. Short 15/20 minute walk to red light district and central amsterdam, down beautiful alleys and streets and the tram runs from the square if you dont want to walk. I will stay again when i return - plus its cool that everything is made from musical instruments - our light was a drum and our bed made of guitar cases - so cool!! :)
The only minus points i can think of are the noise of the hoover at 9.30am every morning waking us up as they hoover and clean the hallway outside and other rooms, and that my shower gel and washing stuff went missing when i left it in the shower, but i guess i should have kept it in my room. Apart from these two very minor gripes it is a lovely, relaxing hotel.

The location is great. Five minute walk to train that will take you to the Central Station. A lot of really nice restaurants and bars all within walking distance.
No toliet or shower in the room but there is a sink. The stairs are almost vertical and no lift.

Staff were great, very welcoming. Room was very clean and cosy. Good location in South Amsterdam right next to a canal. Would recommend anyone to stay there.
