Hotel

The building was originally used as a national savings bank, and later as a school of music, has undergone a large-scale renovation transforming it into the Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam. Its rich history plays a significant role in the contemporary design of the hotel's interior.

To rebalance the mind, body and soul, the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Center offers an impressive 1000 m2 of fitness and spa facilities. Each room reflects one of the four elements. 'Earth' applies to the lounge where you can enjoy fresh organic sandwiches. The main area, 'Water', offers sounds, aroma therapy, Watsu hydro-treatments and hammam treatments. For a good work-out you can visit 'Fire', an area with a good variety of fitness equipment, such as the Kinesis Personal by TechnoGym. 'Air' is a calming, peaceful space for Pilates, yoga and tai-chi. Furthermore, there is a swimming pool of 18 x 5 metres, which is perfect for a morning swim.

The hotel offers extensive services, ranging from 24-hour room service to complimentary high-speed Internet, luxurious bathroom facilities, and a complimentary daily newspaper. Three suites can be booked as a honeymoon suite. The hotel has a cigar shop and a jeweller. You won't even need to leave the hotel for a nice lunch or dinner, as it offers good selection of restaurants and bars. The hotel is a very suitable location for business meetings, and offers flexible venues with state-of-the-art equipment.

Surroundings

Conservatorium Hotel's location is perfect for a city trip to Amsterdam; it's just around the corner of the P.C. Hoofstraat with its designer boutiques as well as the Museumplein where you'll find the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. Enjoy a night out in the nearby concert hall and go for a morning stroll in the Vondelpark.

Food and Drink

You can meet up in one of the hotel's restaurants and bars; open to guests and the public. Enjoy a leisurely start to the day on one of the large sofas in the Atrium Lounge, with a cup of tea or coffee and a sweet treat. The informal Brasserie is also situated in the Atrium, and offers salads, sandwiches and daily specials. Head chef Schilo van Coevorden came up with the concept Taiko by Schilo, where Asian cuisine is combined with local, seasonal produce. Ever since his youth, Schilo has been inspired by the Far East. The wide experience gained whilst working for the masters of Asian cuisine have only fuelled his passions further. Allow your senses to be seduced and enticed by presentation, flavour, aroma, and texture. This restaurant is situated on the first floor, where you'll have a view of the Atrium and the Paulus Potterstraat. The hotel's stylish bar is also thé place for enjoying drinks and tapas dishes.

Great location, beautiful rooms and amazing architecture

The location was ideal for sightseeing. The hotel is amazing, it is such a beautiful building and the rooms were unique and designed for comfort. Very clean, light and open. Our room was upgraded to a two story with view.

The staff in general is very cold, not friendly, aloof. In the bar/lounge and restaurant area in particular the servers have an "attitude" that is not conducive to gracious service.

Top quality city centre hotel - a great place to stay

Very friendly and helpful staff Fantastic hotel building Great location for museums, canals, park and shops High quality rooms

One of the bedside lights did not work in room Fish was undercooked in restaurant

“My tip: If you need a good quality city centre map ask at the Information Desk. The staff are really helpful and will book restaurants for you over the telephone. They told us to take the blue boat canal ride and it was fantastic.”
