Hotel
Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam is conveniently situated: close to the centre (with direct bus and tram links), easily accessible from the ring road, and with splendid views over the waters of the eastern docks.
Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam has a rich history, dating from 1921. The building was originally designed to accommodate the 'Koninklijke Hollandse Lloyd', a company that managed the South-America line for freighting and later for passengers. During this time, the building obtained the status of hotel by accommodating passengers during the waiting time between trips. The design and construction of the hotel was a prestigious project with spiralling costs that eventually contributed to the bankruptcy of KHL. The result, however, was a beautiful construction in the architectural style of the 'Amsterdamse School', with eclectic forms and a stately appearance. The building has since been used as a prison and even as artists' studios. Nowadays, this beautiful listed building is equipped with every comfort to accommodate every kind of visit.
Over 50 designers and artists have transformed the hotel's interior into a unique collection of arts and objects. No room is alike, and each room emanates an extraordinary atmosphere; from 'fold-open bathrooms' to a bath in the middle of the room. On top of this, many rooms offer a beautiful view of the water; subtly hinting at you to visit the centre of Amsterdam. In Lloyd Hotel, a world of information may be requested at the 'Cultural Embassy', where staff are happy to provide you with directions to cultural highlights. Organising a meeting in any style - and to any extent - is easy at the Lloyd Hotel & Culturele Ambassade. With a capacity from 2 to 100 persons and a rich variety of rooms scattered throughout the premises, any type of meeting can be suitably accommodated.
Surroundings
The Lloyd Hotel is situated in the 'Oostelijke Handelskade', the eastern docks, with good travel links to the centre. Trams in Amsterdam are fast and frequent, and will take you to the city centre within 10 minutes. Nonetheless, a stroll past the Dam Square is one of the best ways to explore the centre. Near the hotel, you'll find the educational science centre, Nemo, and the Maritime Museum, which focuses on Dutch maritime history. The Stedelijk Museum, Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum are also easy to get to from the hotel.
Food and Drink
A wide variety of European dishes comprising honest, fresh ingredients coupled with classic methods of preparation are set to guarantee gastronomic pleasures in the restaurant. The restaurant is open for service throughout the day, from 07:00 until 01:00, and take-away dishes are also available. Meals can be ordered in any size or quantity, and can be adapted to suit individual needs. Happiness follows simplicity at the Lloyd Hotel. Table reservation is recommended for the restaurant. Group menus can be arranged for groups of eight people or more. A continental breakfast is served daily from 07:00 until 11:00. Room service is available 24 hours a day, at a charge of €7.50 per order.

The service we got was good en the people working there were friendly.
The entrance from the parking garage was really strange. It didn t look like an entrance to a hotel. The signs were big but at the same time the last sign was confusing by saying exit Lloyd hotel . It would be better to change this to Exit parking garage to hotel . Secondly, the bar on the opposite of the hotel partied on for quite long in the night which we could hear in our room. Thirdly, the breakfast was really expensive so we decided to improvise and find something else.
“My tip: I would recommend to rent a bike (which can be done at the hotel) to get to see the most of the city.”

Lloyd Hotel is really charismatic with different themes throughout, the room was an absolute treasure with a swing located in the middle, and bath overlooking the night sky Highly highly rated will definitely stay again
I forgot to put the window shades on and left the window open which became very bright and noisy at 5 30am, there are shades for the windows I just didn t put them up, so not really a negative.

Location is pretty OK
Bed was OK
Room was terrible and ugly.
95 euro for the room is way overpriced
Parking 25 euro
“My tip: Read the reviews and consider if you really want to book here.”

Good rain connection to Amsterdam Central Station
Overpriced!!! Both room and breakfast. Too long to get by taxi from the city center

Nice decorated rooms, very comfortable and clean beds,
good landscape from hotel window,
1: walls are thin and not very sound isolated, it is easy to hear your neighbours sounds.
2: a bit far from city center, you depend on tram and nightbus, but it is not too difficult to find your way
“My tip: Except the possible noise you can hear from your neighbours, I can really recommend this hotel...”

- Good parking possibilities
- Good location in neighbourhood of Java-eiland
- The comfort room is very basic furnitured and price/quality is very below average. Especially the shower in the middle of the room was quiet 'odd' and was not inviting to take a shower.
- The staff was not very good informed about the various services available in the hotel
- It's okay for a simple stay-night-over but at a too high price in my opinion.

very unusual- loved the dining room ! stunning Dutch interiors - very innovative and edgy- we loved it! Dutch people speak great English, are very friendly and hospitable.
We highly recommend people to go who are looking for something different- a stunning concept of choosing between 1 or 5 star, depending on budget- worked very well!!!
Had not realised it was so far from inner amsterdam : however very convenient to do the hop on/off canal trips! As it was advertised 'near Central station'it was a bit mis-leading as the station is not really 'central'.

The whole place : beautifull with a lot of charisma
None ! But you have to love unusual places (yet very comfortable) rather than 5 stars hostels to really enjoy this one !
