Hotel

It's just a few minutes' walk from the Piet Hein Hotel Amsterdam to three of the city's most popular museums: the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the Stedelijk Museum. Admire their world-famous paintings before taking a stroll towards the centre via the Spiegelkwartier (literally meaning 'Mirror Quarter') with its many antique shops and art dealers. Amsterdam's most exclusive shops can be found in the P.C. Hooftstraat, just behind the hotel. For a great night out, simply head to the Leidseplein square, which is surrounded by restaurants, the casino, and plenty of bars; only a 5-minute walk from the hotel. What's more, a 3-minute walk will take you to The Royal Concertgebouw concert hall.

A beautiful garden has been designed at the rear of the hotel. In the summer, this is the perfect spot for enjoying a relaxing drink on the outdoor terrace. The Piet Hein Hotel offers comfortable rooms that are tastefully decorated with a nautical theme. The rooms come with a shower and/or a bath, and a safe.

Surroundings

The Piet Hein Hotel Amsterdam lies within walking distance of the Museumplein and the Spiegelkwartier. Exclusive shops selling designer clothes, accessories, and shoes can be found in the P.C. Hooftstraat, just behind the hotel. The Leidseplein is a short walk from the hotel and the focal point of Amsterdam's nightlife. This square is teeming with bars and clubs, not to mention the Holland Casino.

Food and Drink

An extensive breakfast buffet is served in the attractive breakfast restaurant. Established in the hotel's immediate surroundings are many restaurants where you can enjoy lunch or dinner. Upon returning to the hotel you can relish some after dinner drinks in the lounge bar. It's also possible to watch some television or read a magazine here.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and room was neatly maintained. Location is excellent, especially for those unfamiliar with the city -- the complimentary city map and coupons for bike rentals were also very appreciated!

A small shelf -- even one that hangs from the shower attachment -- would be useful in the shower stall, for one's own soap and toiletries, etc.

    decent price-quality ratio

I've stayed in many different hotels in Amsterdam over the years. Piet Hein is good value for the money. Nothing fancy. Decent hygiene. Friendly staff. OK breakfast. Good location.

    Goed, schoon hotel

    Excellent Stay

My girlfriend and I have avery enjoyable stay at the Piet Hein Hotel in Amsterdamn during the last weekend in Janauary this year. Initally we were choose the hotel due to its excellent location but we were also extremely impressed with the service, breakfast and comfort as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. i think its an excellent choice for couples or a group of friends looking for a great and affordable hotel during a weekend stay in the city.

It would be harsh to be too critical however the only two points I could make are: the bathroom was surprisingly quite cold and instead of a doubel bed that we requested we got two singles put together (but that happens at most hotels so no real grounds to complain about that). Over all a great stay in a great hotel.

Nice and comfortable in a good location

It is a comfortable hotel in a very good location. Easy to get around with public transport and walking distance to the art museums. Staff is very helpful and friendly, it is clean, nicely decorated and breakfast is good and plenty. I would come back.

It is small but to be expected in an original Amsterdam house. (space is used efficiently tho). The only real minus point for me was the mattress; it was awfully soft.

Geat location with a high degree of comfort

Before arriving correspondance regarding getting to the hotel was prompt and helpful. The location was perfect, close enough to the city to be able to walk everywhere but also on the adge of a peaceful park. The service was of a very high standard and the abitity to leave luggage greatly useful. The room was clean and the bed very comportable. Medical advise from the night staff was also most appreciated.

Breakfast was expensive with an additional suppliment for room service.

    Good hotel for weekend break

The hotel has a good location within the museum and shopping district of Amsterdam. The staff was very helpfull and accommodating ~ the reception girl lent her own umbrella to me as they have run out of hotel ones.

The room was a little on the small side, we could fit our 2 suitcases and be able to walk around+ no room for toateleries make up in the bathroom.

    Excellent hotel in great location

Fantastic location right in the Vondelpark and only steps from museums and shops. The hotel's interior is very stylish and cozy, with comfortable and beautiful rooms. The hotel bar is a lovely place to relax and meet with friends. Service is very helpful and friendly. Guests have free access to the internet and the hotel has printing facilities. Staff helps with booking museum tickets to avoid the queues.

Can't really think of much. The bathroom ventilation system seems to draw in smoke from smoking areas outside the hotel (as the hotel itself is non-smoking), which is a bit unpleasant. Switching off the room A/C caused the room temperature to drop steeply overnight, while leaving it on means some noise. We didn't try the breakfast as it was not included in the rate.

    Perfect for a romantic stay

It is a nicely situated hotel with a serene room decoration, which offers a pleasant neutral atmosphere for everyone's taste. The very high ceilings and long windows with the beautiful view over the park (I stayed on 3rd floor) with its long dark heavy curtains give a romantic touch to the room. Nicely aired, fresh and clean room and bathroom, a comfortable bed. The lift was barely heard from my room which was a definite plus point. In summary, a good traditional Amsterdam hotel, which puts you in the same mode as the city, you'll feel like you belong.

Only the size which actually is part of Amsterdam and can be quite cute. I could say that the double room was a bit too small for two people, with one of the bed sides against the wall and a tiny bathroom with hardly any space to put down toiletries. As I stayed by myself it was perfect, and so it would be for a fresh couple, I'm sure. If planning to stay with a friend then I'd suggest you request a double room with twin beds for more comfort.
