A few days for The Carre Theatre

The positive point during my stay was the location about the hotel, which is really near from restaurants and bars.

A little bit too hot in my room and no way to put down the heat of the heat makers.

“My tip: A few hundred meters from the hotel, there is a nice bar restaurant which is called Saloon and where you can have great home-made hamburgers for a really cheap price and also great beers on tap (one of them is made by one of the cookers )”

    Great location

    Location

I booked the hotel because the pictures on the web looked very good. I got a deluxe room, the most expensive, to make sure I got the best. The disappointment was opening the door the first day I arrived to find that the room was like the one in the pictures, but nothing like it It was small, small bath, old and not maintained furniture, windows and doors.... What was worse was the big stains on the carpet, right in the middle of the room, it just made the room look dirty. Outside the room, in g

    Friendly Staff, good location

Very noisy and small room (Close to a Theater). Breakfast only between 8 and 10 (I had to leave at 7:30 every day), Quite expensive for what you get, but all Hotels in Amsterdam are expensive. TV not working

    Loved the hotel

Staff was great and helpful. Hotel room had a great view.

Need a fan or AC in the room. Was hot and with only one window that opened made for no breeze and very warm room.

“My tip: Bring a fan and shorts.”

a bit overpriced hotel in nice location not too far away of center

location is quite good close to Leidsplein and by (outer) Singel canal. Public transport (trams) run from Leidsplein.

my single room was bit too small, for example the bed was "custom built" to the end of the room. I do not typically look for luxury in hotels, but this was close to my lower limits - also I think the price (a bit over 100€) is too high even though the hotel in not far away of Amsterdam center. Very steep & narrow stairs inside and outside of the hotel

20 euros a night for a triple room you can't go wrong, nice comfy beds, toilets, was like a 4 star hotel really.

We had to wait a few hours to have our room ready.

    Will definitely stay here again

Very close to Leidesplein, walking directions could be a bit more precise - when in Leidesplein walk towards the Mariot Hotel and do a right after the water feature. Lift was working fine. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming, very comfortable beds. We had a triple room and it was set out lovely.

Shower room like a 'wet room' but poorly designed as the floor got soaking. Steps from road to the hotel entrance are steep and concrete, be aware if carrying a heavy suitcase

“My tip: Directions - see above comments. Tram 1,2 or 5 from Central Station to Leidesplein. Then walk towards to the Mariot Hotel (Hotel on corner with red flags hanging from the building). Take the first right after the water feature. Then a two minute walk from there. ”

    Basic and Noisy

Nice staff on front desk, and reception area is well-presented. Location was good for me as it was only a 20 min walk to where I needed to be.

Room was very basic. I was in the room beneath reception and could hear people thumping about all night, which kept me awake. The curtains in the room left a good five or six inches of the bottom of the window uncovered, meaning that light streamed in all night, making it even more difficult to sleep and I felt uncomfortable getting undressed. A poor night's sleep was not ideal as I had to deliver a presentation the next day. I wouldn't stay here again.

Central and friendly but over-priced and shabby

Clean, staff friendly, very good location

A child sized single bed; no breakfast even though I paid €138 for 2 nights; an iron but no ironing board, a window that didn't close properly so I head all the street noise and a man drilling the wall next to my window at 07.30 AM so sleeping in was not possible (I wasn't offered a discount for this). inconvenience).

Older budget hotel so you get no amenities.

    Stay Away

    central location

no wifi in my room ("sometimes it doesn't reach those rooms"), no towels, extra charge if you pay with a credit card, no breakfast (and a bad attitude) although I arrived on time, poor management, not enough workers for keeping the place running smoothly.

This charming, affordable hotel is in an excellent location...

Room 102 (triple room) was very spacious (toilet and shower included) with an excellent view of the canal with a bay window included. It was a very bright room. This was my son's room with 2 of his friends. My room was right next door (rm 101--no toilet or shower) which was very convenient. I loved all the details of the entire hotel, i.e. stained glass, narrow winding wooden steps and banister, inlaid tile floor entrance, etc. It all added to the charm of the hotel. Breakfast consisted of various breads (could toast it), jams, honey, cheese and ham with orange & apple juice & coffee. The coffee was brewed, but they also had a capuccino machine. The location was excellent, as one could walk to everything.

There was construction going on, but they seemed to be coming to the end of it. You would hear the workers getting started at 7:30 in the morning. The wireless internet which was suppose to be available, was not working. The shared shower/toilet on the 1st. floor had a tiny sink with a shelf right above the sink, which made it impossible to put your head over it while washing your face or brushing your teeth.

This charming, affordable hotel is in an excellent location...

My single room (101) was rather small, but sufficient for 1 person. I was there with my son and 2 of his friends who had the triple room right next door (102), which was very convenient for me. I had a great view of the canal. The hotel has so many charming details, i.e. stained glass, inlaid tile entrance, bay windows, a steep winding, wooden staircase and banister, etc, etc. Plus the location is excellent since you can walk to just about everything. It's also an easy bus ride direct to/from the airport, or a choice of 3 trams that go directly to the main train station. Breakfast consisted of various breads (you could toast), different jams, honey, sliced cheese & ham, orange & apple juice, brewed coffee, or a coffee specialty from their cappucino machine.

The lift was out of order, as well as the complimentary wireless internet. There was construction going on, but they seemed to be coming to an end of it. Still, it woke you up at 7:30 in the morning when the workers were getting started. The shared toilet/shower on the 1st. floor had a tiny sink that had a shelf directly above it, which made it impossible to put your head over it while washing your face or brushing your teeth.
