Hotel

This historical building used to function as an office on the old harbour front. This seems odd, but the canals, which used to surround the building, were in fact filled up at the end of the 19th century. What used to be the bustling hub of naval and shipping activity is now the bustling city centre of Amsterdam. As such, many companies closed down because of the decrease in naval activity in the area. The 18th and 19th century structures were often converted into apartments and hotels, which thanks to their excellent location were (and still are!) great bases for travellers seeking culture.

Hotel Sint Nicolaas has a wide variety of room types. All rooms overlook the splendid city centre, but quiet rooms can also arranged. The rooms are fitted with double-glazing. Have you got something to celebrate, or would you like to surprise a loved one? Then don't hesitate in asking staff or write a special request on the booking form. All rooms come with a private bathroom with bath and/or shower, television, telephone and a safe. The delightful box-spring beds ( present in all rooms) guarantee comfort, ensuring you get your 40 winks.

Surroundings

Hotel Sint Nicolaas is situated in the heart of Amsterdam's city centre. Various excursions and city trips can be arranged through the hotel. Many areas of interest are also within walking distance. The Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum and the Scheepvaartmuseum (Shipping Museum) are easy to reach. The bustling city centre offers something for everyone: numerous restaurants surround the hotel and the lively Rembrandtplein is packed with great bars.

Food and Drink

A continental breakfast is available on the ground floor which includes various types of bread, cereals and fruit, giving you a great start of the day. Also situated on the ground floor is a relaxing bar where you can enjoy typical Dutch liqueurs into the early hours.

Value for money for one of the best location in town!

Fantastic location, 5min walk to Centraal Station and close to the shopping streets. Tram station nearby as well. Friendly staff and reasonably clean room.

In a good location, close to Central Station & shopping area.

A little bit grubby but overall good value for money - I would recommend staying there if you had a low budget.

    SMALL,CLEAN AND FRIENDY,RATHER ELEGANT

WHEN COMMING ONE RECEPTIONIST WAS NOT FRIENDY,VERY COLD,DID NOT GET THE ROOM ACCORDING TO WISHES,BUT THE OTHER REC.WITH A BIT OF GOOD WILL CHANGED THE ROOM(HE WAS VERY EFFICIENT) ,AND ALL THE OTHER WERE VERY CORRECT AND FRIENDLY. -I WOULD GO THERE AGAIN.

IN ALL THE ROOMS SHOULD BE COFFEE MAKER. THE TRAM SIDE IS PROBABLY NOISY,BUT THE OTHER SIDE IS GREAT,SPECIALLY UPPER FLOORS. MAYBE,BECOUSE OF THE COUNTRY THEME, A BIT OF FLOWERS IN THE ROOM WOULD BE WARM WELCOME.

    Great Location, Fine Hotel

Close to Central Station and transportation. Nice atmosphere. Some rooms more interesting than others.

Only liquid soap in the bathroom. "Free internet" is only for first 30 minutes and then a bit of a pain getting new IDs for purchased extension time.

The location was perfect and the hotel staff was amazing.

We had a do not disturb sign on the door and the maids ignored it the entire time, coming in a least once a day to clean.

    Excellent choice

Excellent location, anything not within the immediate area (a lot) was accessible by tram with stops just outside the door.

Upon booking a double bed we found out it was two beds put together - falling between them happened a few times!

    Great service at the desk

Over charged!!!!! Total price € 565.00 for three nights???? While sitting having breakfast people were walking into your hotel off the street and asking for room prices and they were told € 95.00 per night....?????? We will be returning in Aug but and would like to stay at your hotel BUT not for € 188.33 per night!!!!!!

Location was short walk from train station and very close to tram routes 2 and 5. Good basic hotel, nothing fancy but nothing really bad.

Weather and room was very warm so needed to open the windows for air. The noise of the trams made it slightly difficult to sleep.

    Good location.

NO air-conditioning. Room like a SAUNA. Not a hotel to stay in in any kind of warm weather. Staff seemed to find GUESTS a huge INCONVENIENCE. Asked for an extra pillow and we were told that this was not possible. In a hotel, charging over €200 per night??????? BREAKFAST quite POOR. No fruit. No variety of juice /cereals. Also service at breakfast was ridiculous. Came down one morning at 9am and no table set. Member of staff looking at us but too caught up texting her mates to get cutlery etc. Had to go up and ask her for every single item that we needed i.e may we have a bowl; may we have a spoon; may we have a cup. Again, this lady seemed very put out to be interrupted! Have stayed in hotels in all major cities all over Europe.. This hotel was by far THE WORST VALUE FOR MONEY I have ever encountered! Would not recommend it.

Very central easy access to train station by foot and all other attractions on a nice street with all necessities available and street was quiet at night no problems with the staff I liked this hotel and would stay in it again it had all we needed

would have liked a DO NOT DISTURB sign to put on the door as the cleaners were round at 10am sharpe and were zealous about doing the job which is in no way a bad thing
