Hotel

Hotel The Toren is situated in several magnificent 17th century buildings on the Keizersgracht canal. The hotel's interiors were treated to a complete metamorphosis under the supervision of interior decorator Wim van de Oudeweertering, resulting is a chique, theatrical, yet perhaps also slightly mystical atmosphere. Now, design, warmth and comfort go hand in hand within this unique hotel.

Hotel staff will be at your service 24 hours a day, and will do their utmost to cater to all your personal wishes. Whether it concerns tourist information, a bottle of wine in your room, or preparing a breakfast in accordance to your personal preferences: a guest's satisfaction is always The Toren's chief priority. As such, you are sure to feel right at home here.

The 38 hotel rooms have all been decorated in different ways and each exudes its own, unique atmosphere: varying from small and stylish to spacious and spectacularly beautiful. In order to guarantee you the utmost comfort, the rooms are equipped with facilities such as a private bathroom, a flatscreen television with a digital entertainment system, fast Internet connection, a telephone and a safe. In short, guests shall want for nothing!

Surroundings

In the vicinity of The Toren there are many places of interest. Because of the central location on the beautiful Keizersgracht, the Dam square, Royal Palace and National Monument are all within walking distance. The Anne Frank Huis, Van Gogh Museum, Concert Hall and Rijksmuseum are also easy to reach. The many shopping streets, as well as the Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein squares are located just around the corner.

Food and Drink

    Comfortable and nice atmosphere

The receptionists felt genuinely interested in giving a good impression of both Amsterdam and the hotel. The room was cozy and had good facilities. The building and the interior added to the atmosphere. Location was great alongside the canals. Nice hotel bar. I had booked a small single-bed room, and it seemed like the hotel is concerned that guests are dissappointed with the small size of the room, so I got an email with actual pictures and description in advance. All I can say is that it was a cozy and well equipped room, I would book again. Do not be afraid to book the small rooms

“My tip: If you want to go to the Anne Frank Museum, book tickets way ahead in advance as they are practically sold out for a good period of time.”

A gem of a hotel in a great location.

Outstanding combination of original Amsterdam merchant s house and chic modern décor. Wonderfully welcoming and helpful staff.

    Our stay was too short.

“My tip: The superb bar (and barman, Sebastian) with the best gin and tonic I ve ever tasted. Try the version with rosemary and thyme. It s fantastic Black and Blue is an excellent restaurant for all times of day. Excellent food, lovely staff plus great background music. Literally just around the corner. ”

Fabulous hotel in a great location

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They offered advice on places to eat out and were happy to make a reservation. They were very informative and helpful with regard to sightseeing. The hotel is in a great location and is beautifully decorated. There is a nice bar and a buffet breakfast is available for 14 until 11am. The room was spotless. It s described as the smallest in the hotel - I found it plenty big enough for a solo traveller.

    No negatives

“My tip: The Jordaan is a lovely area, with lots of nice cafes and quirky shops. There are nice restaurants close by, which the hotel staff are happy to recommend and reserve. ”

Excellent Hotel, Excellent location, Excellent Staff

The staff were very attentive, the owners applied a personal touch with a letter, champagne, choclates and strawberries as we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. The Hotel was the perfect place in the perfect location. The staff also advised and booked us the perfect restaurant to celebrate in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble.

    One of the Best Ever

The service was impeccable, first class facilities, and central location. Breakfast was well prepared and with many varieties of dishes on offer. The room was lovely and well appointed.

Sometimes the staff in their eagerness to emphasize the attributes of the hotel gave us more information than was necessary. More a sign of how devoted they were to the place than any real problem.

“My tip: The Indonesian restaurant Max has outstanding food and a vibrant atmosphere.”

    An excellent introduction to Amsterdam

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good price and excellent quality of breakfast buffet.Excellent location for our needs with good restaurants within waliking distance (and knowlegeable staff able to give us recommendations).

Not an issue for us but some stairs are steep. Would have liked a mirror near power point to dry hair (or a hand mirror which could be moved around).

“My tip: Speak to the excellent barman, Sebastian, whose recommendations were perfect.”

Friendly and helpful staff make us feel like family

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Any request was promptly fulfilled.

Bathroom and facilities are down a narrow staircase and could be difficult for many to use, especially during the night. This suite is not located in the main hotel and wasn't known by us when we booked online.

Friendly Hotel in the middle of what's happening in Amsterdam

Staff is friendly, efficient, knowledgable and want to help. Location is outstanding for those who like to be in the middle of everything (which we do while in Amsterdam). The best rooms are room with views of the canal.

Many rooms tend to be quite small.

“My tip: We found that the hotel lends itself to walking. Everywhere you go you are within short distances to many exciting and interesting restaurants and shops. Getting off the beaten track can be a lot of fun. Great way to get a feeling for the city and it's friendly people.”

    Great location but expensive.

Lovely original old building and decore. Easy to walk to all of Amsterdams main attractions and venues. Very friendly and helpful reception and bar staff.

Although paid high price for Toren Hotel the actual room provided turned out to be in another property some three or so buildings down the street. This was not told to us prior to arriving. Felt some what isolated or left out as all staff and Hotel facilities were located in main Hotel up the street (Bar, Lounge, Restaurant and garden etc).

“My tip: Located very close to Anne Franks House though prebook prior to visiting. Very good bicycle tour of Nth Amsterdams country villages and Water lands by Yellow Bikes.”

    Sweet Spot

Big windows that open, lots of sun, a gorgeous room with a canal view and jacuzzi tub, what's not to love. I was told the room had been newly redecorated and it was lovely, with lots of romantic touches. I am sure they have very quiet rooms, this one was not, but I like listening to the neighborhood boats and birds.

A bit expensive for my budget. So, I have to wait for deals. Breakfast was not very interesting. The plastic wrapped pastries did not look very nice considering. Maybe unwrap a few and leave them out on top of the wrapped ones, like a display. It would look nicer.

“My tip: I'm not big on the public rooms in hotels but the bar here was very nice. It was nicely decorated and looks a little staid, but its actually fun to hang out there for awhile. It has canal views and is quite comfy, add the friendly staff and you have a great spot for a chat and a drink. Get the canal view, its worth it. The jacuzzi was seemed brand new and worked well.”

Touren a hotel with real presence!

Hotel staff were wonderfully helpful. Lovely ambience to the hotel and annexe. Fantastic bar.

We found 3 televisions rather ruined the ambience in the bar, especially when 2 of them were showing different channels.

One of the best city hotels we have stayed at with lots of character.

I booked this for my boyfriends birthday. The hotel kindly upgraded us to a larger room and provided champagne and strawberries. The staff especially at reception were extremely helpful and friendly. The best city hotel I have stayed at and will be returning to. Amazing rooms.

Excellent small hotel in a great central location

Very good service. Nice friendly atmosphere

We stayed 6 days. There was almost no draw space for cloth storage. However my niece stayed at the hotel at the same time, and had a small single room with lots of clothes space !

The Toren - definitely the place to stay in Amsterdam!

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They always made us feel very welcome and catered to our every need - no matter the time of the day or night. They went above and beyond for us every time. The decor of the hotel was lavish and romantic. Very pretty. We stayed in a deluxe room separate from the building. Beautiful, quiet room with jacuzzi and spa shower. Best room I've ever stayed in. Very clean, comfortable, and private - I wanted to stay longer but simply couldn't as I was on a travel agenda. The jacuzzi and shower were awesome, both easy to use and very relaxing. Hotel was easy to find and short walk from Central Station. Walking distance to bars and restaurants. Easy access to main points of interest - Anne Frank House very near by. Great hotel to go to for relaxation and self indulgence. 10/10!

Unfortunately, there was one flaw which was maybe unavoidable - the morning of our check out - woke up to dozens and dozens of flies in our room. They were in our bed, on the walls, in our suitcases, in the jacuzzi and around all the light switches. As we were checking out - the ladies at the front desk were superb and contacted the manager and we only had to pay for our room - the extras were free - we charged drinks and food and internet/movies package to the room. As we were leaving reception, another guest came in to complain about flies in their room too. I don't know if this is a common problem or a one off. I feel we were compensated accordingly and have no ill feelings about the hotel. Totally recommend it to anyone and everyone! Loved the stay entirely.
