As a visitor to 'De Hoge Veluwe' you may use the so-called white bikes. The use of these bikes is free and will allow you to discover all that the park has to offer. For example, it is possible to pay a visit to the 'Kröller-Müller Museum', or the impressive hunting lodge St-Hubertus. This building has been designed by the famous architect Berlage, which has resulted in a synergy of beauty and functionality. Apeldoorn itself is also more than worth a visit. The inner city has many beautiful mansions and interesting museums. The impressive royal palace 'Het Loo' is one of the city's most famous attractions, but monkey zoo 'De Apenheul' and amusement park 'Koningin Julianatoren' are also well worth a visit.
Hotel Abbekerk is close to the centre of Apeldoorn and the city's beautiful park area. This area has many mansions with authentic ornaments, as well as four beautiful parks. The houses have been built between 1880 and 1920 and have a stately character. Besides the four parks nearby, Apeldoorn also has gorgeous country estates and one of the largest theatres in The Netherlands: Orpheus. It is said that the acoustics of this theatre can compete with those of the renowned 'Concertgebouw' (concert hall) in Amsterdam.

In the hotel's surroundings there are many possibilities for arranging a bike ride or hike through the 'Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe'. Lovers of culture, can also enjoy the area, at the royal palace 'Het Loo' and the 'Kröller-Müller Museum', which exhibits work of world famous painters such as Van Gogh, Mondriaan and Picasso.

Abbekerk is a small hotel in an old villa with a relaxed atmosphere thanks to it's sympathetic host. The modern art collection (photography) on display was a nice contrast with the antique interior. The room (especially the bed) was comfortable. I liked it.

Friendly and very helpful approach from the person in charge of the hotel. Even we had a breakfast in a lunch box ready the day we departed due to the early time.

Operated by a very nice young couple who were helpful with answers to questions concerning restaurants, bus routes and area attractions. Beautiful quiet neighborhood within walking distance from town. Lovely breakfast in a large sunny room with windows covering two sides. Good service. Hotel room was small but had all the necessary amenities. Bathroom recently renovated and nicely appointed. Cute balcony with small table and chairs. Provided laundry service for a small fee.

Truly excellent hotel, with a really homely feel and friendly welcome! Extremely comfortable beds, superb breakfasts, too! Have no hesitation recommending Hotel Abbekerk !
Climbing the rather steep stairs! Oh, & negotiating all the road works getting there, from the Railway Station!

I can confirm other people\'s reports that the owners are indeed very friendly and cannot do enough for the guests. The room I had may not be the best I have ever stayed in but it was furnished to a very good standard.
There isn\'t much to do in Apeldoorn on a Tuesday evening, but look out for the restaurants in the market square which are all pretty good.

FREIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF. SPACIOUS NICE ROOM WITH A BIG COMFORTABLE BED AND A NICE BRAND-NEW BATHROOM
THE STAIRCASE TO THE FIRST FLOOR IS VERY STEEP AND THE STEPS VERY SMALL: UNCOMFORTABLE TO CLIMB AND TO DESCEND (ESPECIALLY WITH LUGGAGE).
TV SCREEN IN THE ROOM WAS THE SIZE OF A STAMP.

This is a wonderful location for events at the Orpheus Center, nice in town location near a wide choice of fun restaurants. Liked nearby chinese one particularly. 8 euro trip to train by taxi. Walking distance and near buses, bikeways, park. Hotel will pack picnic lunches. Very fine shower, beds, nice choice of breakfast foods and fresh fruit. Cute rear garden and outside seating area.
Great personal hospitality from hotel operator which made first time travelers in Netherlands very happy with local info!
Daytime noise from traffic in front room, but not at eve. Not enough outlets for all our computer, phone, and camera recharges!
