The Bastion Hotel Barendrecht is located not far from Rotterdam. The city centre can easily be reached by bus or by car. This makes the hotel an ideal base for those who want to explore the beautiful city of Rotterdam. The hotel offers its guests excellent facilities and service. The staff at the reception desk will gladly inform you about all options such as the laundry and wake-up service.
The rooms are all provided with a private bathroom with a shower and toilet. Important soccer matches can be attended in 'de Kuip' and big concerts in 'Ahoy'. Both facilities can easily be reached from the hotel. Rotterdam is a fantastic and modern city. Guests can explore the city best by taking a guided sailing tour along Rotterdam's many waterways including the famous harbour. In the 'Kunsthal' several exhibitions of modern art can be admired.
Food and Drink
The breakfast buffet is served daily between 06:00 and 09:00 h., in weekends between 07:00 and 10:30 h.The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 23:00 h. for a tasteful lunch or savoury dinner. The à la carte menu offer a choice of many local and international dishes. Guests can relax with a nice drink or snack in the atmospheric bar that is open until 23:30 h. Every Wednesday the hotel staff organizes a special soccer or film night here.

Location and size of room
Smoking - the entire hotel smells of stale smoke!
The smoking room door is always open and it's next to the dining room. Even the N/S bedrooms rooms smell.

Not very expensive, but way too much for what you get.
Good location
Extremely spartan. The bed is poor, very little space, even for a budget hotel, and everything of poor quality. Probably most modern prison cells are better.
I complained about the shower head that contained some pieces of very sharp glass or metal (probably some part broke off and left some razor sharp edges). I almost cut my finger in two and suggested to replace the shower head. Nothing happened. Now I must say that the receptionist, who also had to work behind the bar, preparing food and serving food, was clearly way overworked and probably had to do the job of what normally would be at least three people. She was actually friendly.
Overall, this was a very bad experience and good for a story about a ridiculously bad hotel

- eten (boontjes) overgekookt.
- biefstuk niet medium, meer rauw
- borden waren niet schoon, bord ijs zaten nog resten op .
- bij opdekken van de tafel was een servet met bloedvlekken neergelegd. Hier hebben we melding van gemaakt maar is niets mee gedaan.
- kussens op kamer niet altijd schoon
- afstandsbediening miste op kamer
- deuren kamers sluiten niet goed/makkelijk
- bediening te jong en onervaren

Situation for Ahoy is excellent
Bathroom can be bigger (more space)
and you have to pay for the breakfast separately, another 11,00 euro\'s per person, why not included in the price ?
