Hotel
Its unique location by the water makes 't VeerHuys a particularly special accommodation. It offers spacious and modern attic rooms/apartments that are ambiently furnished. The restaurant is situated underneath the guesthouse. Here, you can savour delicious à la carte dishes whilst enjoying a view of the water. Those opting for 't VeerHuys Beusichem will be staying in the middle of the countryside, yet will still be centrally located. Historic cities such as Culemborg and Tiel are also quick and easy to reach, and a 30-minute drive will take you to Utrecht and Den Bosch.
Beusichem is a centuries-old village along the river Lek. The annual horse market has been taking place here since the 15th century. The Betuwe area is renowned for its fruit farming. The soft-coloured blossom of the cherry, pear, plum and apple trees are a sight for sore eyes, particularly in springtime. The Betuwe area is blessed with a varied and diverse countryside; one minute you're cycling along a dyke past the water meadows of the river Lek and the next you're surrounded by beautiful orchards. The surroundings offer many walking and cycling routes and bikes are available for hire at 't VeerHuys Beusichem.
Surroundings
The Betuwe region is bordered by the rivers Waal, Lek and Nederrijn. The recreational area of De Meent is great for swimming and fishing, and you can go canoeing on the river Linge. Near Beusichem, the river Lek also functions as the border between the provinces of Gelderland and Utrecht. Departing in front of Restaurant 't VeerHuys is a ferry that crosses the river Lek to Wijk bij Duurstede. Dorestad - as Wijk bij Duurstede used be called - was an important European trading point during the Middle Ages. Many archaeological discoveries have been made in and around Wijk bij Duurstede, which can now be viewed at Museum Dorestad. The small city of Culemborg with its beautiful historic city centre and dozens of listed buildings lies just five kilometres away from Beusichem.
Food and Drink
Restaurant 't VeerHuys is established below the guesthouse. It is a cosy pancake restaurant where meat and fish dishes also grace the menu. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace and a sun lounge with a view of the river Lek, while a warm, crackling fire in the hearth provides a cosy touch in the winter. The restaurant is open daily from 11:00. It is also possible to enjoy Afternoon Tea here.
